Alright, let’s talk about this Masters golf thingy, the one from 2022. You know, the one where them fellas hit the little white ball all over the place? Yeah, that one. Someone asked how many pars were made, and well, it ain’t as simple as countin’ chickens, I tell ya.
First off, they had a bunch of players, like, 88 of ’em, maybe more some days, less on others. See, some fellas, they don’t make the cut, so they go home early. So, figuring out the total pars is a bit of a headache. They say there was around 89 players for the first two days, then only 50 stickin’ around for Saturday and Sunday. That’s how they do it, I guess.
Now, a golf course, it’s got these things called pars. Every hole’s got a par, you know, like how many hits it should take to get the ball in the hole. Most of them big courses, they got a par of 72, meaning if you’re real good, you get the ball in the hole in 72 hits. Some holes are easier, some are harder, but it all adds up to 72, most of the time.
- So, if you got 89 players playin’ two rounds, that’s a lot of holes, and a lot of chances for pars.
- And then them 50 fellas playin’ two more rounds.
Someone smart figured out there was a total of 5,004 possible pars. That’s a whole lotta pars, if you ask me. But that don’t mean they all made par on every hole, no sir. Golf ain’t that easy. These fellas, they miss sometimes, they get birdies, sometimes worse things happen, like them bogeys, or worse!
I heard tell that the average score was somethin’ like 73 and a half. That means, on average, they was takin’ a little more than par on each round. So, they weren’t makin’ all them pars, that’s for sure. Some holes, they was real tough. Like that 11th hole, a par-4, they was sayin’ it played real hard. Only 168 pars made on that hole the whole tournament. That ain’t many, seein’ as how many times it got played.
They had this thing called “strokes gained” too, but I don’t rightly understand it. Sounds like fancy math to me. All I know is, they keep track of all sorts of things in golf. How far they hit the ball, how many times they get it in the hole in regulation, all that stuff. It’s enough to make your head spin.
So, to answer the question, how many pars in the 2022 Masters? Well, I can’t give you an exact number, see. They don’t just add ’em all up like that, not that I’ve seen. But you can figure, with 5,004 possible pars, and an average score over par, that there was a whole mess of pars made, just not every single one of them possible ones. Maybe they made 4000 pars? Maybe more, maybe less. It’s hard to say for sure without seein’ all them scorecards myself. Golf, it’s a game of ups and downs, pars and misses. That’s just the way it is.
And let me tell you, them golfers, they make good money hittin’ that little ball. Millions of dollars, they say. More money than I ever seen in my life, that’s for sure. But I reckon it ain’t easy. Takes a lot of practice, and a lot of walkin’, and probably a whole lot of patience, too. More patience than I got, that’s for sure. I’d be throwin’ them clubs in the pond after a few bad shots, I tell ya.
Anyway, that’s my take on it. They played a lot of golf, there were a lot of chances for par, and some of them fellas did good, and some of them didn’t. That’s golf, like I said.
