Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about this Nick Saban diet, the one where he eats those Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies every morning. It sounds crazy, but the guy is a legend, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I mean, if it works for a top-tier football coach, maybe it’ll do something for a regular guy like me.
So, I started this little experiment last week. Every morning, I get up, let the dog out, grab a cup of coffee, and eat two, yes, two, Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. It’s kind of a weird breakfast, I’ll admit. I’m used to something more, you know, traditionally breakfast-y, like cereal or eggs. But hey, I’m committing to this.
Then, for lunch, I’ve been following Saban’s lead again. I’ve been making a salad. It’s not fancy or anything, just some iceberg lettuce, turkey, and tomatoes. Honestly, it’s pretty bland, but I guess that’s the point? Saban doesn’t have time to mess around with complicated meals, and I figured I don’t need any more decision fatigue, right?
- Wake up
- Let the dog out
- Make coffee
- Eat two Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies
- Lunch: Salad with iceberg lettuce, turkey, and tomatoes
It’s only been a week, and I haven’t noticed any huge changes. I mean, I’m not suddenly coaching a football team to victory or anything. I don’t feel drastically different. The Little Debbie pies are a sugar rush in the morning for sure and the salad is, well, a salad.
One thing I have noticed is that it simplifies my day. I’m not spending time thinking about what to eat for breakfast or lunch. It’s just automatic now. That’s kind of nice, actually. I can focus on other stuff, you know?
I’m going to keep this up for a while longer. Maybe there’s some secret magic to this diet that I haven’t unlocked yet. Or maybe it’s just a simple, no-nonsense way to eat. Either way, it’s an interesting experiment. And who knows, maybe I’ll develop some of Saban’s legendary focus and discipline along the way. If not, well, at least I tried something new, right?
But, man, I do miss a good, hearty breakfast. I might have to treat myself to some pancakes this weekend… just sayin’.
