Okay, so, today I decided to tackle the “Grove” clue in the NYT Crossword. Let me tell you, it wasn’t a walk in the park. I’ve been doing these crosswords for a while, so I grabbed my coffee, sat down, and started to fill the blank.
At first, I was completely lost, stared at the puzzle for a good few minutes. I tried to think of anything related, jotting down some random words that came to mind, but nothing seemed to fit. I even tried using one of those websites that give you answers, but I really wanted to figure it out myself.
The difficulty of the NYT crossword, as any daily player would know, increases as the week progresses. Monday’s puzzle? Easy peasy. Saturday’s? A real brain-buster. And the Sunday one, it’s like a whole different beast, a real challenge.
I decided to try a different strategy. I started to fill in some of the easier clues around the “Grove” one. I read all the clues carefully. Slowly but surely, I began to get some letters in place. I kept working on it, taking breaks to clear my head and then coming back to it with fresh eyes. I erased, rewrote, and erased again, feeling like I was wrestling with the puzzle.
- First, I tried to put some words related to “nature” or “trees”.
- Then I tried filling other words that crossed with this clue.
- I spent some time thinking about what it could be about.
Finally, after what felt like hours, it hit me! There is one word that related to the clue I am looking for. I filled in the last few letters, and there it was, the completed puzzle. I have to admit, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment.
I looked at the clock and realized I’d spent a good chunk of my time on this puzzle. It’s funny how time flies when you’re so absorbed in something. People say that they usually spend an average of nine minutes and twenty-four seconds on solving a puzzle. I totally spent more time than that today.
And that is my adventure today of solving the “Grove” clue. It was tough, but I did it, and it felt great!
