So I saw this thing online about the Yankees looking for a new manager, and it got me thinking. I mean, they already parted ways with Joe Girardi, right? So, who’s next? I did some digging around, just to see what people are saying, and, man, there’s a lot of chatter.
First off, I started looking into who they’ve already talked to. I found out that they had a few interviews, including with folks like Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge, and Hensley Meulens. It felt a bit like going through a long list of potential dates, each with their own pros and cons.
- Rob Thomson – He’s got that insider knowledge, right? Been with the team for a while.
- Eric Wedge – This guy has managed before, so he knows the drill.
- Hensley Meulens – He’s coming from the Giants, which could bring a fresh perspective.
Then, I stumbled upon some juicy stuff. Apparently, the Yankees are considering a bunch of candidates. And they all bring something different to the table. Some people even mentioned that there are around 11 bench coaches this season alone who have managed before, including Brad Ausmus. It seems like a big decision, and they need to get it right.
Then I remember reading somewhere that Joe McCarthy managed the Yankees from 1931 all the way to 1946! In his time, the Yankees won eight American League titles and seven World Series. He also had more wins and losses than any other Yankees manager. That’s some serious history. I also found that Aaron Boone will return as manager after the team picked up his 2025 option. That’s some serious history.
After a few hours, I realized that Aaron Boone is actually going to be the manager again in 2024. They said he’s going to make a whopping $3.3 million that year. And get this, he’s only the third Yankees manager to take the team to the postseason in six of his first seven years, after Casey Stengel and Joe Torre. It seems Boone is going to talk about it all in a news conference soon.
So, there you have it. My little adventure into the world of Yankees’ manager search. It was a wild ride, but hey, at least I learned a thing or two. And it looks like they are sticking with Aaron Boone, for now. We’ll see how that goes, I guess.
