Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about Dana White, the UFC president, and his legendary blackjack sessions. I mean, the guy’s a beast at the tables, apparently. So, I decided to dig into it and see what all the fuss is about. I wasn’t planning on playing myself, initially, just wanted to observe and learn.

I started by watching this YouTube video from JFcombat. It had this interview with Joe Rogan, who, if you don’t know, is this long-time UFC commentator. Rogan was talking about Dana’s blackjack adventures, showing some footage of him playing. It was pretty wild to see the head of the UFC just raking in chips.
Apparently, Dana’s favorite spot for a long time was the Palms Casino in Vegas. Rogan mentioned that Dana’s had nights where he’s lost a million bucks, but also nights where he’s won up to seven million! That is some serious cash, and for a guy like Dana, that’s probably not even his biggest win.
From what I gathered, Dana was on a serious hot streak a while back, like a 5-month winning streak, pulling in millions. That’s what really got people talking. Also, this guy, Dana, he’s not messing around with small bets. I read that he bets anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000 per hand. Also, it seems he’s pretty consistent with his strategy, always hitting on 16 against a dealer’s 10.
So, after doing all this research, I was like, “You know what? I gotta see this for myself.” I booked a trip to Vegas, not to play, but just to watch. I went to a few casinos, including the Palms, hoping to catch a glimpse of Dana in action. No luck, the guy is busy, I guess.
My First Time at the Tables
But, being in Vegas, surrounded by all the action, I got the itch. I decided to try my hand at blackjack, just to see what it was like. I started small, of course. I mean, I’m no Dana White! I’m not betting 75k on a single hand.
The first few hands were rough. I lost a bit, but then I started getting the hang of it. I remembered some of the basic strategy stuff I’d read about, like when to hit, when to stand, and all that. It’s not as easy as it looks when you’re watching, let me tell you.
I played for a few hours, and believe it or not, I actually ended up winning a little bit! Nothing crazy, just a couple hundred bucks. But it was enough to get me hooked. I started playing more regularly, both online and at local casinos.
Learning and Improving
I started studying the game more seriously, reading books, watching videos, and even talking to other players. I learned about things like card counting, which, by the way, is a lot harder than it sounds. There are rumors that Dana White might be a card counter, but who knows.

I also learned about the odds in blackjack. Like, did you know the player has about a 42% chance of winning a hand, while the dealer wins around 49%? And the house edge, if you play perfectly, is only about 0.5%.
- I kept playing, kept learning, and kept getting better.
- I had some good nights, and some bad nights, but overall, I was winning more than I was losing.
- I even had a few nights where I won a couple thousand dollars, which felt amazing.
Now, I’m not saying I’m anywhere near Dana White’s level. The guy’s a legend. But I’ve definitely come a long way from that first time I sat down at a blackjack table. It’s been a fun journey, and I’m still learning and improving every time I play.
