Okay, so I’ve been meaning to watch this fight between Angela Hill and Tabatha Ricci for a while now. It went down on August 24, 2024, at UFC Vegas 96, also known as UFC on ESPN 62: Cannonier vs. Borralho, and I finally got around to it.
First, I grabbed my laptop and found a recording of the whole event. This one was held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, which is always a good spot for a fight. I skipped through the earlier fights to get straight to the co-main event, which was Hill vs. Ricci.
I was really curious to see how this one would play out. Angela Hill, she’s a veteran, you know, with a record of 17-14 MMA and 12-14 in the UFC. Then you got Tabatha Ricci, a bit newer to the scene but still tough, coming in at 11-2 MMA and 6-2 in the UFC.
Once the fight started, I made sure to pay close attention. I took notes on my phone, jotting down the major moments and any cool moves they pulled off. Watched them exchange some punches and kicks, with Ricci managing to control a lot of the action on the ground.
My Notes
- Round 1: Both fighters came out swinging. Some good exchanges, but Ricci got a takedown and controlled Hill for a bit.
- Round 2: More of the same. Hill landed some good shots, but Ricci’s grappling was too much. Another takedown and some ground and pound.
- Round 3: Hill knew she needed to do something big, but Ricci was just too dominant on the ground. Another takedown sealed the deal.
After the fight ended, I waited for the judges’ decision. It was pretty clear to me, and sure enough, they scored it 29-28, 29-28, giving Ricci the unanimous decision win. I updated my notes with the official result and saved them for later. I always like to keep track of these things.
I also checked out some post-fight interviews and Twitter updates to see what people were saying. Looked like most folks agreed with the decision. I always find it interesting to compare my own thoughts with what others are saying.
So yeah, that’s pretty much how I spent my evening, watching and reviewing the Hill vs. Ricci fight. It was a good one, and Ricci definitely showed she’s a force to be reckoned with. I’m already looking forward to the next UFC event, though. I just love breaking down these fights. It’s kind of a hobby of mine at this point.
