Man, I was digging around the internet the other day, trying to find a list of PGA caddies. It’s actually harder than you might think! I mean, these guys are super important to the golfers, right? They’re like the unsung heroes of the PGA Tour.
So, I started by just Googling “list of PGA caddies.” I got a bunch of random articles, some about famous caddies, some about how much they make, and even one about course management. Interesting stuff, but not exactly what I was looking for. I really wanted to create my own simple list, I tried to refine my search, looking for things like “current PGA Tour caddies” or “caddies at the 2023 Masters.” Still, I couldn’t find that perfect list I had in my mind.
I did stumble across some cool facts, though. Like, did you know that caddies used to not be allowed at the Masters? It wasn’t until 1983 that golfers could bring their own! And some of these caddies have been doing this for decades. They have what they call “local knowledge,” and that is really helpful.
I also read that being a good caddie is way more than just carrying a bag. They have to be smart, patient, and super loyal. They need to know the course inside and out, understand the wind, and help the golfer make smart decisions. One article even mentioned that “course management skills are crucial.” It makes sense when you think about it.
Anyway, I started making my own list. It’s not complete, but I’m adding to it as I find more info. I figured I’d share what I have so far, maybe some other folks out there are interested in this stuff too.
- Min Woo Lee’s Caddie – I found an article specifically about him, but it didn’t mention the caddie’s name. It did say he was a “veteran” though, so that’s something!
- A Few Famous Caddies – I’m going to have to do more research on these guys, but I’ve heard the names.
It’s a work in progress, but it’s been a fun little project. It’s crazy to think that these caddies are so important to the game, but most people don’t even know their names. I’m going to keep digging and see what else I can find. I hope I can share more info about it.
