Okay, so I’ve been really getting into this Holly Holm kickboxing thing lately. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you. I started a couple of months ago, just looking for something to change up my workout routine. I was so bored with the same old gym stuff, you know?
So, I started digging around, looking for something new, and stumbled upon some of Holly Holm’s old fights. Man, that woman is a beast! I mean, she was a boxing world champion multiple times, and then she went on to UFC and did her thing there. Seeing her move, the power in her kicks, it was insane. I was immediately hooked.
- First thing I did was find a local gym that offered kickboxing classes. It took a bit of searching, but I finally found a place with a decent reputation.
- Then came the gear. I got myself some gloves, hand wraps, shin guards – the whole nine yards. Felt like a real fighter getting all kitted out, haha.
- The first few classes were rough, I won’t lie. My body was aching in places I didn’t even know existed. But I pushed through. I kept showing up, kept practicing.
Slowly but surely, I started to get the hang of it. The basic punches, the jabs, the hooks – they started to feel more natural. Then came the kicks. Roundhouse kicks, sidekicks, front kicks… it was a whole new world of pain and sweat, but also a ton of fun.
I even started watching more of Holm’s fights, trying to pick up on her techniques, her footwork, her combinations. She’s got this amazing ability to switch stances, to move in and out of range, to land those devastating head kicks. It’s inspiring, to say the least.
My Progress
Now, I’m not saying I’m anywhere near Holly Holm’s level. Not even close. But I’m definitely improving. My kicks are getting stronger, my punches are getting faster, and my stamina is way up. I can actually go through a whole class without feeling like I’m about to collapse, which is a huge win.
It’s been an amazing journey so far. I’ve learned so much, not just about kickboxing, but also about myself. About my own strength, my own determination. I never thought I’d be capable of something like this, but here I am, doing it. And loving it.
I highly recommend anyone to try kickboxing, no matter if you are into UFC or any other mixed martial arts. I guess it is not easy to be the next Holly Holm, but it is fun, I have to say!
