So, I was looking to make a little something for my buddy who’s crazy about golf. I thought, why not try making a golf pennant? It seemed like a fun project, and I had some spare time on my hands.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to gather some materials. I grabbed:
- Felt fabric – green for the main part, obviously.
- Different colored felt – for the flag and letters.
- A wooden dowel – to hang the pennant.
- Some yarn – to hang it up.
- Scissors, glue, and a ruler – the usual suspects.
Putting It Together
I started by cutting out a large triangle from the green felt. This wasn’t rocket science, just eyeballed a decent pennant shape. Then, I cut out a smaller triangle for the flag from some red felt and glued it to one end of the green triangle.
Next up, the letters. I wanted to write “GOLF” on it, so I sketched out the letters on some white felt, cut them out, and glued them onto the green felt. It was a bit fiddly, but I think it looked pretty neat.
After that, I attached the wooden dowel to the top of the pennant. I just rolled the top edge of the felt around the dowel and glued it in place. I made sure it was secure so the whole thing wouldn’t just fall apart.
Finishing Touches
Finally, I tied some yarn to each end of the dowel so my buddy could hang it up. I even added a little felt golf ball at the bottom corner just for kicks.
All in all, it was a pretty straightforward project. It took me a couple of hours, and I reckon it turned out alright. My buddy seemed to like it, and that’s what matters. If you’re looking for a simple DIY gift for a golf lover, this might just be the ticket.
