Alright, so I was trying to jump into Destiny 2 today, ready to grind some levels and whatnot. But guess what? I kept getting hit with this annoying “cat error” message. I mean, seriously? A cat error? What’s that even supposed to mean?
Anyways, I wasn’t gonna let some weird error message stop me. First thing I did was the usual – restarted the game. Nope, still there. Cat error, staring right back at me. Okay, time to get a bit more serious.
Next, I went ahead and restarted my whole PC. You know, the classic turn-it-off-and-on-again move. Booted everything back up, launched Destiny 2, and… bam! Cat error again. I swear, this thing was mocking me.
So, I thought, maybe it’s my internet acting up? I unplugged my router, waited a couple of minutes, and plugged it back in. While I was at it, I gave my PC a wired connection, just in case it was a Wi-Fi issue. Tried the game again. And would you believe it? Still. That. Cat. Error.
By this point, I was getting pretty frustrated. I even tried verifying the game files through the game launcher, thinking maybe something got corrupted. The launcher did its thing, found a few files that needed fixing, and I thought, “This is it! Finally!” But no. Cat error came back to haunt me.
I started digging around online, checking forums and stuff. Turns out, a bunch of other players were dealing with the same issue. Some suggested it might be server-side, others said it could be related to a recent update. There was a lot of guessing, but no solid answers.
After a few hours of this, I decided to just take a break. I figured, maybe the servers were just having a bad day. I went off, did some other stuff, and came back to it later in the evening.
And guess what? It worked! No more cat error. I was finally able to get in and play. I’m still not entirely sure what caused it or why it suddenly fixed itself. Maybe it was just a temporary server hiccup, or maybe all those restarts and file verifications eventually did the trick. Who knows?
So, yeah, that was my adventure with Destiny 2’s cat error. It was a pain in the neck, but hey, at least I got to play eventually. If you ever run into this issue, hopefully my experience can give you some ideas on what to try. Just be prepared for a bit of trial and error, and maybe a lot of patience!
- Restart game – didn’t work
- Restart PC – also didn’t work
- Restart router, use wired connection – nope, still there
- Verify game files – launcher fixed some files, but error persisted
- Take a break, try again later – success!
It was a wild ride, but I made it through. Keep on gaming, folks!
