Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something a bit different, something that’s been on my radar for a while. I’d heard about this guy, Rene Diaz, and his art. I’m no art critic, but there’s something about his work that just grabs you, you know?
So, I started by just Googling his name, just to see what would pop up. I scrolled through a bunch of images, just taking it all in. His style is pretty unique. Lots of bold colors, kind of abstract, but also kind of not? It’s hard to put your finger on it.
Then I decided to dive a bit deeper. I found a few interviews with him online. It was cool to hear him talk about his process. He seems like a pretty chill dude, just going with the flow, letting the art take him where it wants to go. I can respect that.
After reading up on his background, I wanted to try to recreate some of his pieces, just to get a feel for how he works. I grabbed some old canvases I had lying around, some acrylic paints, and some brushes. It felt good to get my hands dirty again. I haven’t painted in ages.
- I picked one of his paintings, a simpler one, to start with.
- I sketched out a rough outline on the canvas, just to get the basic shapes down.
- Then I just started layering on the paint, trying to match the colors and textures.
It was definitely a challenge. His style is looser than I’m used to. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, but I tried to let go of that and just have fun with it. I slapped on the paint, mixed colors on the canvas, just trying to capture the energy of his work.
It didn’t turn out exactly like his, of course. But that wasn’t really the point. The whole process was super therapeutic. It was a nice break from my usual routine. I ended up spending the whole afternoon painting, just losing myself in the process.
My Results
Honestly, the results were pretty good. It wasn’t a masterpiece or anything, but it was something. It definitely had that Rene Diaz vibe, that raw energy. I learned a lot from trying to copy his style. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened my eyes to a new way of creating.
Maybe I’ll try to do something original, inspired by him, in the future. But for now, I’m pretty happy with how this little experiment turned out. It was a good day, a good way to get back into the swing of things.
