Okay, so I’ve been staring at my fantasy lineup all week, wrestling with this Khalil Herbert dilemma. The question burning in my mind: should I start him? Let me walk you through my thought process, maybe it’ll help you out too.
![Should I Start Khalil Herbert or Bench Him? Week [Insert Week Number] Dilemma.](https://www.starkguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/8bfdab5aa264bb775fc263b8f1333c6d.jpeg)
First, I looked at the matchup. Who are the Bears playing? Are they any good against the run? Turns out, they’re playing a team that’s pretty middle-of-the-road when it comes to stopping running backs. Not great, not terrible. Okay, check that box. Could be worse.
My Options
- Look at projections: I jumped on a few different fantasy football websites. You know, the usual suspects. Some had Herbert projected pretty high, others were kinda “meh” on him. That wasn’t super helpful, to be honest. It’s all just educated guessing anyway, right?
- Injury Reports are key! Gotta check if there’s anyone else on the Bears, like the starting running back, that is Out or even just Doubtful. If the starter is out, Herbert’s value goes WAY up, obvious, I Know. All clear on the injury front.
- Review Recent Performance:I spent some time scrolling through game logs. I wanted to see Herbert’s recent snap counts and his touches. Has he been getting a decent workload? Has he been doing anything with those touches? He’s had a couple of good games recently, but also a few duds. Seriously inconsistent!
Then I started thinking about my other options. Who else could I start instead of Herbert? I’ve got another running back on a team with a juicy matchup against a terrible defense. So, there’s that. It’s tempting, real tempting.
Finally, I just went with my gut. After weighing all the pros and cons, I’ve decided to… bench Herbert this week. I know, I know, it could totally backfire. He could go off for 20 points. But my other running back just feels like a safer bet, and with the playoffs looming, I need some safety!
It’s a gamble, for sure, but that’s fantasy football, isn’t it? Good luck with your own lineup decisions, I’m sure you’ll do Great.
