Okay, so the other day, I was watching the Masters and got into this whole debate with my buddy about how many par 3s, 4s, and 5s there actually are on the course. We were going back and forth, and honestly, neither of us were 100% sure. So, I decided to just figure it out myself, once and for all.

Digging In
First, I grabbed a scorecard. Any typical scorecard image would do it, the blank one is even better. I did a quick search and downloaded from searching results.
Then I started to go through the holes, just to get the general breakdown. You know, making a little tally in my head. I knew there’d be a mix, but I wanted the exact numbers.
The Count
- I went hole by hole, literally just counting. Hole 1, par 4. Hole 2, par 5. And so on.
- I used a simple notepad to keep track. Nothing fancy, just:
- Par 3s:
- Par 4s:
- Par 5s:
- I noticed it is regular par 3s, 4s and 5s. So, no tricky.
The Final Tally
After going through all 18 holes, here’s what I found:
- Par 3s: 4
- Par 4s: 10
- Par 5s: 4
So, there you have it. Four par 3s, ten par 4s, and four par 5s. That is the standard breakdown, at least it seemed so to me during that tournament.
It was actually kind of fun, like a mini-research project. Now I can finally settle that debate with my friend. Maybe next time, we’ll argue about something even more trivial, like how many bunkers there are!
