Okay, so I saw this thing online, “President Trail Monopoly GO,” and I was like, what the heck is that? Sounds crazy, so I had to try it out. Turns out, it’s a mashup of the board game Monopoly and the mobile game Monopoly GO, but with a U.S. Presidents theme. Sounds wild, right?

Getting Started
First, I dug around online to find some printables. I wasn’t about to buy a whole new board game. Found some decent-looking property cards and stuff with presidents on them instead of, you know, Boardwalk and Park Place. I printed those out, kinda flimsy paper, but it worked.
Then, I already had Monopoly GO on my phone, so I was good there. The idea is to play the board game, but use the mobile game for some extra stuff, like dice rolls and mini-games. This is where things got interesting.
The Crazy Gameplay
So, we started playing. Instead of buying properties, we were “winning” states, each represented by a different president. Instead of houses and hotels, I guess you could say we were building “campaign headquarters” or something. I totally made that up on the spot, but my friend playing seemd to enjoy it. We used the printed-out cards for the states and kept track of our money the old-fashioned way.
Here’s where Monopoly GO came in. Every time we landed on a Chance or Community Chest space, we fired up the mobile game. Instead of drawing a card, we spun the wheel or played whatever mini-game popped up in the app. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was bad, just like the regular cards.
- One time, I got a bunch of extra cash from a Monopoly GO mini-game, and I used it to totally dominate the board. My friend was not happy.
- Another time, I had to pay a huge tax in the app, and it almost bankrupted me in the board game. That’s when i realized how this works.
The Verdict
Honestly, it was kind of a mess. But a fun mess! Keeping track of everything between the board game and the mobile game was tricky, but it also made it super unpredictable. We ended up making up a bunch of our own rules as we went along, like i mentioned before, which is half the fun of Monopoly anyway, right?
Would I do it again? Maybe! It’s definitely not something you want to try if you’re a stickler for the rules. But if you’re up for some chaotic fun and you like both Monopoly and U.S. Presidents, then give it a shot. Just be prepared to improvise!
