Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into this whole “aliassime vs alcaraz” thing for a while now. I kept seeing highlights and snippets, but never really sat down and watched a full match. Today, I finally did it.

My viewing experience
First, I fired up my laptop and found a decent stream of one of their recent matches—I think it was from Indian Wells. Had to mess around with a few links before I got one that wasn’t totally choppy.
Then, because I’m a bit of a stats nerd, I pulled up their head-to-head record on another tab. Wanted to get a sense of their history before diving in.
I saw that the results were really intersting.
Next, I grabbed a notebook and pen. Sounds old school, I know, but I like to jot down notes as I watch. Helps me keep track of key moments, momentum shifts, that sort of thing. I, then, made some coffee.
- First set: Started to write down my impresions on both players serve and powerful groundstrokes.
- Second set: Took notes on return of serve and some incredible net play.
- Third set: Focused on the unforced errors that made my jaw drop.
I even paused the stream a few times to rewind and re-watch certain points. Like, there was this one insane rally where Alcaraz hit a ridiculous between-the-legs shot, and I had to see it like five times to believe it.
Finally, after the match ended , I spent some time comparing my notes to the actual match stats. Wanted to see if my observations lined up with the numbers. Pretty cool to see how often they did!
All in all, it was a super engaging experience. Definitely made me appreciate the skill and athleticism of both these guys. I’m already planning to watch another one of their matches soon – maybe I’ll even try to catch one live!
