Thinking About UFC 400… Man, How Times Change
So, people are already talking about UFC 400 down the line. It gets you thinking, right? These big milestone numbers always create a buzz. I remember the hype for UFC 100, then 200, and even 300 felt like a big deal.

Back for UFC 200, I thought, “Okay, gotta do this right.” Planned a whole thing. Got the buddies lined up, or so I thought. Told everyone, “My place, Saturday night, gonna be epic.” I went out, grabbed way too many snacks, cleared the living room. Felt like a big shot organizer for a minute.
Then Saturday rolls around.
- First, Dave texts, “Hey man, something came up with the missus, can’t make it.” Okay, fine.
- Then Mike calls, “Dude, my kid’s got a fever, gotta bail.” Annoying, but understandable.
- Then the actual broadcast starts… and my internet decides right then to crap out. Just buffering. Spinning wheel of death.
I spent half the main card restarting the router, messing with cables, calling my provider who put me on hold forever. By the time it was kinda stable, most of the hype fights were done. Ended up watching the main event alone, eating stale chips, feeling pretty dumb.
Tried Again, Sort Of…
For UFC 300, I didn’t even try organizing. Thought I’d just enjoy it myself, nice and quiet. Ordered a pizza. Sat down. Then the phone rings. Work emergency. Had to jump on the laptop. Missed half of it again dealing with emails and spreadsheets.
It just hits different now. Back then, missing a big fight felt like the end of the world. Now? There’s always something else. Work, family, just being tired. The energy I had to really plan and get into these big events just isn’t quite there.
So, UFC 400? Yeah, it’ll happen. It’ll be big news. Maybe I’ll catch the highlights. Maybe I’ll even watch it live. But planning some big blowout? Nah. Learned my lesson. Probably just see what happens, grab a beer, and if I miss a fight because the dog needs walking or I fall asleep on the couch… well, that’s just how it goes now. It’s funny how things change.
