Alright, let’s talk about keeping track of the WWE releases this year, 2024. It’s become sort of a side project for me, just trying to stay on top of who’s coming and going, mostly the going part, really.

It started pretty casually back near the beginning of the year. I saw a couple of names pop up as released, names I recognized, and I thought, “Huh, I wonder how many this will be by the end of the year?” It wasn’t like I set out to build some massive database or anything, more like a personal curiosity.
My Tracking Method – Super Basic Stuff
So, what did I actually do? Honestly, nothing high-tech. I grabbed an old notebook that was lying around. Yeah, actual pen and paper. Whenever I’d read the news, maybe scrolling through stuff online or catching up on wrestling sites I usually check, I’d jot down the name and the date if I saw a release confirmed.
It wasn’t super strict. Sometimes I’d hear rumors, but I tried to wait until it seemed pretty official, you know, reported by a few places I generally trust. No spreadsheets, no alerts set up on my phone. Just me, my notebook, and checking the headlines now and then.
- Started with just wanting to see the number grow.
- Made a point to check wrestling news sections maybe once a day or every couple of days.
- Tried to stick to names that were actually confirmed, not just ‘rumored to be unhappy’.
What I Noticed Along the Way
Doing this, even casually, you start to notice things. Or maybe, you think you notice things. Sometimes there’d be a quiet spell, then suddenly a small batch of names would appear. Other times, it’d be a single name, maybe someone you totally forgot was even still signed.
It’s weird, you see a name, someone you’ve watched for years, and even if they weren’t doing much on TV lately, it still feels a bit strange. Like, “Oh, okay. End of that chapter.” It’s just part of the business, always has been, but keeping a running list makes it feel a bit more… concrete, I guess?
The biggest challenge wasn’t the tracking itself, that was easy. It was more keeping up when things got busy in my own life. I’d forget to check for a week, then have to play catch-up, scrolling back through news feeds. Sometimes I’d miss one and add it later when I saw their name mentioned elsewhere as being gone.
Keeping it Simple
So yeah, that’s basically been my process. No complex system, just a guy with a notebook making a list. It’s just interesting to have a simple, physical record of the changes happening. Helps me keep the roster straight in my head, or try to, anyway. It’s a constant shuffle, and this was just my little way of keeping score for myself throughout 2024.
