So, I finally jumped into Wuthering Waves. Heard the buzz, you know? People talking online, saying it’s the next big thing, or maybe just another gacha game. Figured I’d see for myself. Took a while to download, install was okay I guess.

Booted it up. Looked pretty slick, gotta admit. The art style, familiar if you’ve played games like this before. You wake up, don’t remember much, typical start. Picked my character, the Rover, they call ’em. Then you’re just… out there.
The world feels big. Lots of running around. Climbing stuff, gliding down. Feels like we’ve done this before, right? But it works. Found myself just exploring for a bit, ignoring the quests. Ran into some weird creatures, beat ’em up. The combat is fast. Lots of dodging, switching characters. Felt kinda messy at first, just hitting buttons.
Getting into the rhythm
Then I started figuring out the echo system thing. Catching monsters, using their skills. That felt a bit different. Adds a layer, makes you think about which echoes to grab. Still feels like a lot to manage sometimes, swapping echoes, leveling them up. It’s a grind, no doubt.
And the gacha, oh boy. The pulls. You save up, you do a 10-pull, you hope for that shiny new character. Got lucky once or twice, got some characters I liked. Other times, just got the usual stuff. It’s the same old song and dance. You need specific characters for tough fights, so you feel pushed to pull. Or just grind materials forever.
The story? Honestly, kinda lost me sometimes. Lots of names, places, lore dumped on you. I tried to follow, but sometimes I just clicked through. Maybe it gets better, I dunno. I’m more here for the running around and fighting things.
It really feels like the past shaping the future here. You see bits of older games, ideas from other action RPGs, all mashed together. The open world, the character action combat, the gacha model. It’s not ground-breaking, feels more like refining things we’ve seen. Taking known pieces, polishing them up, putting their own spin on it with the echoes maybe. It’s comfortable, in a way. You know what to expect.
Performance was mostly okay on my setup. A few stutters here and there, especially in busy areas. Heard some folks had bigger problems. Seems they’re patching things up.
The daily grind now
So now, I log in, do my daily tasks. Spend that waveplate stuff, grind for materials, level up my characters and echoes. It’s falling into that routine. Sometimes it feels good, making progress. Sometimes it feels like a chore. Will I stick with it long term? Hard to say. Depends if the updates keep it interesting, or if the grind burns me out.

Right now, I’m still logging in. Exploring a bit more when I have time. Trying to beat that harder content. It’s got its hooks in me, for now at least. It’s decent fun, if you know what you’re getting into. Just another world to sink some time into, really.
