Getting My Own Khabib Hat
So, I kept seeing Khabib Nurmagomedov wearing that big, fuzzy hat, you know? The Papakha. Looked pretty cool, iconic even. Got me thinking, maybe I should try and get one myself. Not like I’m going into the octagon, just thought it looked distinctive.

First thing, I started looking around online. Just typed in “khabib hat” mostly. Lots of stuff popped up. Some looked cheap, like costume pieces, others looked more like the real deal, made of sheepskin. Had to figure out what was what. It’s basically a traditional hat from the Caucasus region, where he’s from. Makes sense.
Finding one that seemed legit took a bit of digging. Saw a few options, read some descriptions. They talked about different types of wool or sheepskin. I wasn’t looking for anything super fancy, just something that felt authentic and wasn’t going to fall apart right away. Decided on one that looked pretty sturdy, made from actual sheepskin, seemed like the right shape too.
Placed the order. Then, the waiting game began. Took a little while to arrive, maybe a couple of weeks, coming from quite a distance I guess. When the package finally showed up, I was pretty curious.
Opened it up. First impression? Wow, it’s actually quite large! And fluffy, definitely fluffy. The wool was thick. Tried it on immediately. It sits high on the head, just like how Khabib wears it. It felt a bit stiff at first, but also surprisingly warm. It’s got some real weight to it, not heavy, but you know it’s there.
- Look: It’s got that distinctive tall, cylinder shape. The wool is curly, mostly white/greyish, like you see in the pictures.
- Feel: Genuinely warm. The inside lining is softer, making it comfortable enough to wear.
- Overall: Definitely makes a statement. It’s not subtle.
So yeah, that was the process. Started with seeing it, got curious, did a bit of searching, ordered one, and now I’ve got this impressive piece of headwear. It’s more than just a hat; feels like owning a small piece of cultural identity, even if it’s not my own culture originally. It’s a cool conversation starter, that’s for sure. Glad I went through with getting it.
