Alright, let me tell you what I got up to today. Was just scrolling through stuff, you know how it is, and somehow ended up looking at pictures and stuff related to KSI. And I dunno why, but I kinda got fixated on, well, his forehead. Strange thing to focus on, maybe, but it just seemed like such a prominent feature, almost iconic in a way.

Getting Started
So, I thought, hey, let’s make this a little practice session. Like, really look at it, maybe even try sketching it. Haven’t done much drawing lately, felt like flexing that observation muscle a bit. Grabbed my old notepad and a pencil – nothing fancy, just whatever was lying around. Found a few decent resolution pictures online, pulled them up on my tablet so I could zoom in if needed. Didn’t really have a goal, just wanted to spend some time observing and maybe putting pencil to paper.
The Actual Process
First, I just looked. Like, really looked. Tried to trace the shape with my eyes, see where the hairline starts, how it curves. It’s funny, you see faces all the time but rarely break them down like that. Then I tried sketching the basic outline. Man, it was harder than I expected. Getting that specific curve and the width right… tricky stuff.
I wasn’t aiming for a full portrait or anything, just that specific area. Made a few attempts. My first couple of tries looked totally off, more like a generic cartoon forehead. Rubbed those out. Tried again, focusing on the relationship between the top of the forehead and where the eyebrows would theoretically sit below.
Here’s what I noticed during this little exercise:
- The hairline itself has a particular shape, not just a simple curve.
- Lighting dramatically changes how it appears in photos. Shadows can make it look bigger or smaller.
- Trying to isolate one feature without drawing the rest of the face feels weird and disconnected.
Spent maybe, I dunno, forty minutes on this? Pencil smudges everywhere. It reminded me of when I tried learning guitar chords years ago – seems simple, but your fingers just don’t wanna cooperate at first. Same feeling here, my hand wasn’t quite translating what my eyes saw.
How It Turned Out
Well, let’s be honest, I didn’t produce any masterpieces. The sketches are rough, like, really rough. You probably wouldn’t even know what I was trying to draw if I didn’t tell you. But that wasn’t really the point, was it? The point was the practice, the act of observing closely.
I felt like I got a better sense of its actual shape and size, beyond just the memes or quick glances you see online. It’s a distinct feature, for sure. Didn’t quite capture it on paper, but I feel like I understand its form a bit better now.
Final Thoughts
It was an odd little session, focusing so intently on someone’s forehead. But kinda interesting too. Good reminder that careful observation is a skill you gotta practice. Even if the end result isn’t much to look at, the process itself was useful. Maybe I’ll try focusing on other specific facial features next time, could be a decent way to improve my noticing skills. Anyway, that was my weird practice for the day.
