Alright, so you wanna know about this Brock Thomas fella from Oregon, huh? Lemme tell ya what I know, the way I know how to tell it. Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I’m just gonna lay it out plain and simple.
Who is this Brock Thomas kid? Well, from what I hear, he’s a quarterback for them Oregon Ducks. You know, the football team. Ducks, can you believe it? Why they gotta be ducks, I dunno. Anyways, this Brock, he throws the ball, I guess. That’s what quarterbacks do, right? Throw the ball, run around a bit, try not to get tackled too hard.
Now, I ain’t seen him play myself, mind you. I don’t watch much of that fancy college football. Too much runnin’ around, not enough good ol’ fashioned hard work like we used to do on the farm. But these young fellas, they love it. And this Brock Thomas, he seems to be pretty good at it. They say he’s got a strong arm. Means he can throw that ball far, I reckon. And he’s gotta be quick on his feet, too, otherwise those big ol’ boys on the other team would just squash him like a bug.
Where’s he from? Well, I heard somethin’ about him bein’ from Oregon. Makes sense, I guess, if he’s playin’ for the Oregon Ducks. Don’t know where in Oregon, though. Big state, Oregon. Lots of trees and mountains, so I hear. Probably grew up throwin’ rocks at squirrels or somethin’, that’s how you get a good arm, I betcha.
What’s he done? Like I said, he plays quarterback. Throws the ball, tries to score points. That’s the whole game, ain’t it? Get the ball, run with it, throw it, score points. Sounds simple enough, but I bet it’s harder than it looks. These fellas train all the time, liftin’ weights, runnin’ sprints, eatin’ healthy. Not like us old folks, eatin’ whatever’s on the table.
Stats and stuff. Now, I don’t know nothin’ about stats. Numbers and figures, that’s all just gibberish to me. But I heard they keep track of all sorts of things for these football players. How many times they throw the ball, how many times they run, how many points they score. All that fancy stuff. You can probably find it online somewhere if you care about that kind of thing. Just search for “Brock Thomas Oregon stats” or somethin’ like that. My grandkids are always searchin’ on that there inter-web thingamajig.
I hear they compare him to other quarterbacks, too. See who’s better, who’s faster, who’s stronger. Like they’re prize bulls at the county fair or somethin’. I guess that’s how it works in the sports world, always gotta be comparin’ folks. Me, I think as long as they’re tryin’ their best, that’s all that matters.
What’s his future look like? Well, if he keeps playin’ good, I reckon he could go on to play professional football. You know, in the NFL. That’s the big leagues, where the real money is. But it’s tough to get there, and even tougher to stay there. Lots of competition, lots of pressure. Gotta be tough as nails, these football fellas.
But even if he don’t make it to the pros, he’ll probably be alright. He’s got an education, I hope, and he seems like a good kid. He’ll find somethin’ to do. Maybe he’ll become a coach, teachin’ other young fellas how to throw the ball. Or maybe he’ll go into business, sellin’ somethin’ or other. Who knows? The world’s full of possibilities, especially for a young fella like him.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about this Brock Thomas. He’s a football player for the Oregon Ducks, he throws the ball pretty good, and he seems like a decent fella. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably layin’ eggs right about now.

Remember, just because I talk plain don’t mean I don’t know nothin’. I’ve seen a thing or two in my time, and I can spot a good egg when I see one. And this Brock Thomas, well, he seems like a good egg to me.
