Well, howdy there! Let me tell you somethin’ about this here “masters quote” thing. Folks always talkin’ about “masters,” ya know? Like they some kinda big shots. But what does it all really mean? Lemme tell ya, it ain’t as fancy as it sounds.
What them smarty-pants say about masters
I heard some fella once say, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act.” Sounds like a whole lotta hogwash, don’t it? But I reckon it means if ya keep doin’ somethin’, ya get good at it. Like bakin’ biscuits, ya gotta keep at it ’til they fluffy and golden brown. Ain’t no magic to it, just plain ol’ hard work.
Then there’s this talk about “We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts.” Now that’s somethin’ I can get behind! It means we, the regular folks, are the bosses. We tell them politicians what to do, not the other way around. They work for us, see? Don’t let them forget it!
- Masters of their own craft
- Masters in their own right
- Masters of motivation
Some folks, they masters of their own craft. Like that blacksmith down the road. He can hammer out a horseshoe like nobody’s business. Or that woman who sews them quilts, purdy as you please. They ain’t famous or nothin’, but they masters in their own right. They done practiced and practiced, and now they the best darn blacksmith and quilter around.
And what about masters of motivation? I saw somethin’ once on a piece of paper. Said things like, “Wake your dreams,” “Life won’t wait,” and “Believe in yourself.” Sounded right nice, I guess. But life ain’t always about dreams and such. Sometimes, it’s about gettin’ up before the sun and workin’ your fingers to the bone. Still, I reckon it’s good to have a little somethin’ to keep ya goin’. Like thinkin’ about them grandkids or that new chicken coop you wanna build.
Masters in books and learnin’
Now, I ain’t had much schoolin’, but I hear tell there are masters in books and learnin’ too. Folks like Abraham Lincoln and that Churchill fella. They say them fellas said some smart things. I wouldn’t know, never read their books myself. But I figure they musta been masters of words, kinda like that preacher down at the church. He can sure make them words sing, even if I don’t always understand what he’s talkin’ about.
They got masters in art and science too, I hear. Paintin’ pictures and figgerin’ out how things work. It’s all the same, really. Just folks workin’ hard and gettin’ good at somethin’. Don’t matter if it’s hammerin’ metal or writin’ books or paintin’ pretty pictures. It’s all about stickin’ to it and not givin’ up.
So, what’s a master anyway?
So, this “masters quote” thing, it ain’t so complicated after all. It’s just about folks bein’ good at what they do. Ain’t no magic to it, just hard work and stickin’ to it. And remember, we the people are the masters of this here country. Don’t let them politicians forget that. And don’t let nobody tell you that poverty is a blessin’. Poverty is hard and nobody wants it. You gotta get up and do somethin’ about it. Now, go on out there and be a master of your own life, whatever that may mean to you. Whether it’s raisin’ a good family or growin’ the best darn tomatoes in the county, you go on and be the best you can be.
Don’t be fooled by fancy words
And don’t let them fancy words fool ya. “Excellence” and all that. It just means doin’ your best. And “motivation”? Well, that’s just findin’ a reason to get outta bed in the mornin’. Ain’t nothin’ more to it than that. So, next time you hear someone talkin’ about “masters,” just remember it’s about plain ol’ hard work and dedication. Nothin’ fancy, just good, honest effort.
That’s all I got to say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens.
