Alright, so you wanna know ’bout them Washington fellas and the Oakland boys playin’ ball, huh? I tell ya, it’s like watchin’ my chickens peckin’ in the yard, sometimes they hit somethin’ good, sometimes they just miss.
The Nationals and the Athletics, huh? Sounds fancy, but it’s just a buncha fellas swingin’ sticks, tryin’ to hit a ball. I seen a game or two on that there picture box, the one my grandson got me. Don’t understand half of it, but it’s somethin’ to watch while I’m shellin’ peas.
Now, they got these fellas, right? Like that Abraham Toro. Heard he hit the ball real good once, knocked in two runs. That’s good, I guess. Means his team got some points, or runs, or whatever they call ’em. It’s like when my hens lay extra eggs, more is better, ya know?
And then there’s this Gore fella, plays for Oakland, I think. They say he throws the ball real hard, strikes folks out. Reminds me of my ol’ rooster, always chasin’ the hens around. Feisty, that one was. This Gore fella, he struck out eleven guys one time. That’s a lot, even I know that.
- Oakland Athletics: Heard they won some games lately, three outta five. Not bad, not bad at all. They also got some fancy titles from way back when, like in 1910 and all that. Sounds like a long time ago, before they even had those fancy picture boxes.
- Washington Nationals: Don’t know as much about them, to be honest. They got a fella named Dan Haren, played for both teams, I guess. He was good for Oakland, they say, but not so much for Washington. It’s like plantin’ seeds, sometimes they grow, sometimes they don’t.
They played a game on September first, 2022. Don’t ask me who won, I can’t remember. They got all these numbers and stats, makes my head spin. It’s like tryin’ to count all the stars in the sky, just too many. But they keep track of everything, hits, runs, errors… Sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me.
Then they got these head-to-head stats, whatever that means. They compare the two teams, see who wins more, who loses more. It’s like comparin’ my tomatoes to my neighbor’s, who got the bigger ones, who got the juicier ones. Folks always like to compare, I guess.
Anyways, they play again on April 14th, Oakland against Washington. Maybe I’ll watch, maybe I’ll just go feed the chickens. It’s all the same to me, really. But some folks get real riled up about this baseball stuff. Yellin’ and screamin’ at the TV. I just sit there and knit, try to ignore the noise.
So, there you have it. Not much, I know. But that’s all this ol’ lady knows about them Nationals and Athletics. They hit balls, they throw balls, they run around. And sometimes, they win. Just like life, I guess.
In the end, it’s just a game, right? Like when I play cards with my friends, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But it’s all about havin’ a little fun, ain’t it? Or maybe it’s about more than that, I don’t know. Maybe it’s about teamwork, or pride, or somethin’ like that. But to me, it’s just a buncha fellas swingin’ sticks and chasin’ a ball. And that’s all there is to it.
