Well, let me tell you about this Deion Sanders fella and where he went to school. You know, that football player, always dancin’ and showin’ off. He was somethin’ else, that’s for sure.
Deion Sanders and His College Days
Folks always talkin’ about where these fancy athletes go to college. This Deion, he played football, baseball, even ran track, all at Florida State University. Yeah, that’s right, Florida State. He was good, real good. People saw him on TV, runnin’ fast and catchin’ balls. He was an All-American, they say. Fancy title, huh? Means he was one of the best.
- Football star
- Baseball player
- Track runner
- All-American, twice!
But here’s the thing, playin’ football for a big school like Florida State don’t mean you graduated from there. See, Deion, he did get a degree, but it wasn’t from Florida State. He went and got himself a degree from Talladega College in Alabama. Yep, a historically Black college, they call it. Good for him, I say. Gettin’ that education is important, no matter where you do it.
Now, some folks get confused. They hear Florida State and think that’s where he graduated. But no, Talladega College is where he got his degree. Two different places, you see. Like goin’ to the market for veggies but gettin’ your meat at the butcher shop.
Choosing the Right College, it ain’t easy.
Pickin’ a college, that’s a tough one. It’s like tryin’ to find the best watermelon in a whole field. You gotta look around, squeeze a few, see what fits you. Some folks, they like big schools, lots of people, fancy buildin’s. Others, they want somethin’ smaller, more personal. And then there’s the money. Lord, college costs a pretty penny these days. You gotta figure out how you gonna pay for it, scholarships, loans, workin’ your tail off.
They got these things now, like this “College Search” thingamajig. Helps you find schools, tells you about what they teach, where they are. Sounds complicated to me, but the youngsters these days, they’re good with them computers and such.
You gotta think about what you wanna study too. You wanna be a doctor? A teacher? A fancy businessman? Each school’s different, gotta find one that teaches what you wanna learn. And don’t forget the feelin’ you get when you visit the place. Do you feel at home? Do you like the people? It’s important, you know. Gotta be comfortable where you’re gonna spend all that time learnin’.
And after you get them acceptance letters, more decisions! It’s like pickin’ which pie to eat at the county fair, they all look so good. You gotta compare them offers, figure out what’s best for you and your future. It’s a big deal, this college thing. Sets you up for the rest of your life, they say.
So, Deion Sanders, he played at Florida State, but he graduated from Talladega. Two different things. Just like pickin’ a college, you gotta look at all the options and figure out what’s right for you. It’s your life, your future. Don’t let nobody else tell you what to do.
College Life, It’s a Changin’
The way kids learn these days ain’t like it used to be. Back in my day, you listened to the teacher, read your books, and that was that. Now they got all these computers and internet things. And the kids, they got opinions about how they should be taught. Guess that’s a good thing, they should have a say in their own learnin’. Colleges gotta listen to them youngsters, or they’ll be left in the dust.
So, there you have it. A little bit about Deion Sanders and a little bit about college. It’s a big world out there, lots of choices to make. Just gotta do your best and follow your heart. And remember, gettin’ that education, that’s important. No matter where you get it from.
