Well, howdy there, y’all! Today, we’re gonna jaw about somethin’ that’s been on my mind lately – hair color, you know, that stuff they put on their heads to make ’em look different. And wouldn’t you know it, they even got these things called “hair color crosswords” now. Fancy, huh?
What in tarnation is a hair color crossword?
Now, I ain’t no city slicker, but I reckon a hair color crossword is one of them puzzles where you gotta fill in the blanks with words ’bout hair color. Like, they might ask ya, “What color do ya git when ya mix red and yellow?” And the answer, bless your heart, is orange! It’s like them riddles they used to tell ’round the campfire, only ’bout hair.
Why do folks even bother with hair color, anyhow?
Back in my day, hair color was what the good Lord gave ya. But these young’uns, they’re always wantin’ somethin’ different. They got blonde, brown, black, red, and even purple and blue, for cryin’ out loud! I guess it’s their way of expressin’ themselves, like puttin’ on a fancy dress or gettin’ a tattoo. Me? I’m happy with my gray, thank ya very much. Shows I’ve lived a good long life, seen a thing or two.
- Blonde: That’s the color of sunshine, like them dandelions in the field.
- Brown: Like the dirt we walk on, good and solid.
- Black: Dark as night, mysterious and deep.
- Red: Fiery like a sunset, full of spunk.
And then they got all these fancy names for the shades, like “honey blonde” and “chocolate brown.” Makes me chuckle, it does. Like they’re talkin’ ’bout food instead of hair.
So, how do ya solve one of these hair color crosswords?
Well, first off, ya gotta know your hair colors. Then, ya gotta read the clues real careful-like. Sometimes they’ll give ya a straight-up question, like “What’s the opposite of black?” And sometimes they’ll be tricky, like “The color of a raven’s feathers.” Ya gotta use your noggin, that’s for sure.
And if ya git stuck, don’t ya fret. Just take a deep breath and try another clue. Or ask a friend, if ya got one handy. Two heads are better than one, as they say. Even my old grandpappy used to say that, and he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, if you catch my drift.
Where can ya find these hair color crosswords, anyway?
Well, I hear they got ’em in newspapers and magazines. And these days, young’uns are always lookin’ at their phones and computers, so I reckon they got ’em on there too. Probably just type in “hair color crossword” and a whole bunch of ’em will pop up. Technology, ain’t it somethin’? Makes my head spin sometimes.
Now, let’s talk about hair itself, not just the color.
They say the outside part of the hair, that’s called the cuticle. Sounds fancy, but it’s just the part ya see and touch. And underneath that, there’s more layers, like an onion, I reckon. They say the color is in there somewhere, mixed in with all the other stuff. It’s a wonder it don’t all fall out, to be honest.
And they got this thing called “color theory” too. That’s just a fancy way of sayin’ how colors mix together. Like, if ya mix blue and yellow, ya git green. And if ya mix red and white, ya git pink. It’s like bakin’ a cake, only with hair dye. Land sakes, they’ll come up with anything these days!
So, there ya have it. A little somethin’ ’bout hair color crosswords, hair color, and hair itself.
Hair Vocabulary: Just to make things clear, because these young’uns use words I don’t always understand. They talk about “highlights,” which is like makin’ some parts of the hair lighter. And “lowlights,” that’s makin’ ’em darker, I guess. And “balayage?” Lord have mercy, that’s when they paint the color on, like they’re paintin’ a fence or somethin’. It’s all a bit much for an old lady like me, but hey, if it makes ’em happy, more power to ’em. I say, live and let live, as long as they ain’t causin’ trouble.
I hope ya learned somethin’ today, or at least had a good chuckle. Now, if ya’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Biscuits and gravy, anyone? That’s real color, right there on your plate!
