Alright, let’s talk about this Sony Open weather, you know, the one they have over there in Hawaii. Folks always wanna know what kind of weather they gonna get, especially when they’re playing golf or just watchin’ it on the TV.
What’s the weather gonna be like at the Sony Open? Well, I heard tell it’s gonna be pretty nice. They sayin’ it’ll be sunny, real sunny-like, with the heat gettin’ up to around 85. That’s hot, you know? Like a good summer day, but in January! They also sayin’ it’s gonna be breezy, the wind blowin’ from the east-northeast at about 18 miles per hour. And sometimes, that wind, it gonna gust up to 25 miles per hour. So, hold onto your hats, folks!
Now, at night, it cools down a bit, thank goodness. They’re sayin’ it’ll be mostly clear, with the low gettin’ down to around 73. Still warmish, but not as bad as the daytime. You could probably sleep with the windows open, if you ain’t scared of the bugs, that is.
- Daytime: Sunny, high near 85 degrees
- Nighttime: Mostly clear, low around 73 degrees
- Wind: East northeast wind around 18 mph, gusts up to 25 mph
They talk about somethin’ called “humidity” too. Said it’ll be somethin’ like 68 percent. That means it’s gonna feel kinda sticky, you know? Like when you sweat and it don’t dry up so fast. Gotta drink lots of water, that’s what I say, when it’s sticky like that.
And rain? Well, they sayin’ there ain’t no chance of rain, not on the first day, anyways. That’s good news for them golfers, I reckon. Nobody wants to be playin’ golf in the rain. Gets the clubs all slippery and the ball don’t go where you want it to.
I also heard somethin’ about somethin’ called “high pressure”. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They say this high pressure stuff gonna stick around for a bit, keepin’ the air dry and the showers away. Mostly sunny skies, they sayin’. That’s what you want for a golf game, I figure.
They got all these weather folks with their fancy gadgets and numbers, tellin’ you all sorts of things. They talk about “models” and “APIs” and “MAE” and “RMSE”. I ain’t got no idea what all that means, but I reckon it means they’re pretty sure about the weather. They say their weather guessin’ is right about 90 to 100 percent of the time. That’s pretty good, I guess. Better than my old rooster, anyways. He always crows when he feels like it, rain or shine.
They say there are lots of places you can get weather information, these days. Lots of them weather apps and websites. They say some give you the weather right now, some tell you what it’ll be like later, and some even give you a weather map, whatever that is. Sounds complicated, but I guess it’s handy if you’re plannin’ a picnic or somethin’.
Anyway, back to this Sony Open. They say the first day, January 11th, it’s gonna be 76 degrees in the daytime and 62 degrees at night. Sounds like a perfect day for watchin’ some golf, or maybe just sittin’ on the porch with a glass of iced tea. If I was there, that’s what I’d be doin’, anyways. Watchin’ those fellas hit that little white ball around. Seems like a silly game to me, but folks seem to like it.
This Waialae Country Club, that’s where they’re playin’. It’s in Honolulu County, Hawaii, you know, out in the islands. Must be beautiful there. I ain’t never been, but I seen pictures. Palm trees and blue water. Sounds like paradise. And with this weather they’re talkin’ about, it’ll be even better.
So, there you have it. The weather for the Sony Open. Sunny, breezy, warm, and not a drop of rain, at least for the first day. Sounds like a good time to me. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go chase that darn rooster out of the garden. He’s been eatin’ my tomatoes again.
