Alright, let’s talk about this Goldberg fella, the one they say everybody hates in that wrestling business. I don’t know much about wrestling, mind you, just what I hear from the grandkids and see on that there TV sometimes. But from what I gather, this Goldberg, he’s a real piece of work.
So, who is this Goldberg anyway? Well, they tell me his real name is William Scott Goldberg, some American fella who likes to wrestle and act. Seems like he made a big splash in that wrestling world, but not everyone was happy about it. You know how it is, some folks just rub you the wrong way, no matter what they do.
- They say he was a big deal in WCW. WCW, that was another wrestling thing, before the one they got now. Goldberg, he was their top dog for a while, winning all the time. Folks say he was strong, real strong, and he’d beat everybody quick.
- But then he went to that other wrestling place, WWE, and things got messy. People started saying he wasn’t so tough, that he was just a copycat of some other fella named Steve Austin. Both bald, they say, so they must be the same. Hmph, makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.
Now, I ain’t one for gossip, but the grandkids, they tell me all sorts of things. They say folks didn’t like Goldberg ’cause he was from that other wrestling place, WCW. Like it was some kind of war, them wrestling folks fighting over who’s the best. Silly if you ask me. It’s all just make-believe anyway, ain’t it?
And then there’s that whole “money” thing. Seems like some folks think Goldberg was just in it for the cash, not for the love of the game. They compare him to another fella, Brock Lesnar, say they both just care about the paycheck. Well, I can’t blame a man for wanting to make a living, can I? We all gotta eat, right?
But the biggest thing, the one they always talk about, is that Bret Hart incident. Now, I don’t know all the details, and honestly, I don’t care to. But from what I hear, something bad happened in the ring, and Bret Hart got hurt. And folks blame Goldberg for it. They say he was careless, that he didn’t know what he was doing. And that, that stuck with him.
Some folks, they even say Goldberg’s matches weren’t any good, that he just did the same moves over and over. They call him names, say he’s overrated, that he didn’t deserve all the attention he got. But like I said, I don’t know much about wrestling. Maybe he was good, maybe he wasn’t. All I know is, people sure got strong opinions about him.
And now, they say he’s gone. His contract ran out, and he ain’t wrestling no more. Maybe that’s for the best. Maybe folks will forget about all the bad stuff and remember the good. Or maybe they’ll just keep on hating him. That’s the way of the world, ain’t it? You can’t please everybody, no matter how hard you try.
So, is Goldberg one of the most hated men in wrestling? Well, from what I hear, he sure ain’t the most loved. But why? Maybe it’s because he was too good, too strong. Maybe it’s because he came from the wrong place, or cared too much about the money. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s because people like to have someone to hate. It gives them something to talk about, something to get riled up about. And in that wrestling world, seems like that’s half the fun.
Anyway, that’s what I make of it. A whole lot of fuss about a fella who likes to wrestle. Me, I’d rather spend my time gardening or baking a pie. But to each their own, I say. If folks want to get all worked up about Goldberg, well, that’s their business. I’ll just stick to my own, thank you very much.
This whole wrestling thing, it’s a mystery to me. But one thing I do know, people are people, no matter if they’re in a ring or in a field. And sometimes, people just don’t get along. That’s life, ain’t it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got a pie in the oven.
And one last thing about this Goldberg. He’s gone now, like the wind. Maybe that’s for the best. Maybe folks will find someone new to hate. Wrestling always needs a good bad guy, that’s what my grandson tells me. He said that without a good bad guy, then the good guys don’t look so good. Sounds like a bunch of baloney to me, but who am I to judge? I just hope nobody gets hurt too bad. That’s the most important thing, don’t you think?
