Oh, honey, you wanna talk about that hair color crossword, do ya? Well, let me tell you, my old brain ain’t what it used to be, but I’ve seen a thing or two in my day, and that includes a whole lot of hair colors! And these crossword puzzles, they’re a hoot, always trying to trick ya.
Now, you see these young folks with all them fancy colors. Pink, blue, green, you name it! Back in my day, we didn’t have all that. We had our natural colors, that’s what. And we were happy with ’em! Hair color clues, ha! You get gray, you get white, maybe a little bit of red in there somewhere, some blonde maybe.
But these puzzles, they wanna know all them fancy words for hair colors. Like, what’s that one they always use? Starts with an “A”… Auburn! That’s it, auburn. Sounds like a fancy town in Alabama to me. That’s a kind of reddish-brown, I reckon. Then there’s that blonde, like that Dolly Parton.
And brunette, that’s just a fancy word for brown hair, ain’t it? Or maybe dark hair. See, this is where they try to trick ya. They give you a word, and you gotta think of another word that means the same thing. It’s like a game, this crossword puzzle thing. A word game for your brain. Like when you say hair color (6), you might think blonde. If the clue is hair color (9), you might think brunette.
- Blonde: That’s the light, yellow-ish hair.
- Brown: Just regular old brown.
- Black: Dark as the night sky, that’s black hair.
- Red: Like a fiery sunset, that’s what they call it.
- Gray: Well, that’s what happens when you get old, like me!
- White: Like the snow, pure white.
- Auburn: Reddish brown color.
- Brunette: Dark brown hair.
Sometimes they ask for “dye.” Like, what do you use to change your hair color? Dye! That’s an easy one. But then they get tricky and ask for a specific kind of dye. I remember seeing one that was like, “natural hair dye.” And the answer was “henna.” Who knew, right? Henna, natural hair color.
These crossword puzzles, they like to use them numbers, too. Like they’ll say “hair color, 5 letters.” Well, let’s see. Could be “brown.” Could be “black.” Could be something else entirely, like “white” if you are old like me. You gotta use your noggin’ for these things! Five letters hair color… maybe BLOND!
Then they’ll throw in a real doozy, like “common hair color.” Well, what’s common? Depends on where you are, I suppose. Around here, it used to be mostly brown and black. Now, with all them young folks and their dyes, who knows! But for that crossword, they probably want “brown” or “black.” Those are pretty common, I’d say. Or blonde hair, so many people have that color.
They also got these things called “daily crossword puzzles.” Every day, a new one! Keeps you on your toes, I guess. And they say it’s good for your brain, keeps it young. Well, I don’t know about all that, but it sure is fun to try and figure them out. They have mini ones, too, for those short on time.
Oh, and another one I saw was “element #78 sporting a new hair color.” Now that’s a real head-scratcher. Element? Like from that science chart? I ain’t no scientist. But I figured it out eventually. It’s platinum! That’s a color, ain’t it? Like a silvery blonde. See? You learn something new every day, even with these silly crosswords. Platinum hair color, I never.
So, you see, this hair color crossword thing, it ain’t as simple as it looks. You gotta know your colors, your dyes, and even a little bit of science, it seems! But it’s a fun little game, and it keeps this old lady’s brain busy. Now, where did I put my glasses… I gotta find that word for “reddish-brown hair, 6 letters.” Starts with an “A”…
I tell ya, these crossword puzzles, they are somethin’ else. Always trying to test your knowledge about simple things, like hair color! You’d think somethin’ as common as hair would be easy, but nope! They gotta make it a whole big thing. Hair color, dye, shade, it’s all the same to me! But, I do enjoy a good puzzle. Makes me feel a little bit smarter, even if I am just guessin’ most of the time. So, keep them hair color clues comin’, I’m ready for ’em!
