Well, bless my soul, another year of that golf game done gone by! 2023, they call it. Time sure flies when you’re having fun, or watching them young fellas chase that little white ball around. This year, 2023, I tell ya, had some big winners in them golf majors. The major what? Oh, the big deal golf games, the ones everyone gets all riled up about.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I heard some names tossed around more than a hot potato at a church supper. This one fella, Jon Rahm, they say he won one of them big tournaments. He must be good, right? Winning ain’t easy, not in golf, not in life. Then there’s this other fella named Brooks Koepka. Lord, that name is a mouthful. But they say he won one, too. Another major, another big win for him.
These fellas, these golf major winners, they’re somethin’ else. Hit that ball a mile, they do. Strong as an ox, I reckon. Me, I can barely swing a broom these days without my back actin’ up. But these boys, they swing them clubs like it ain’t nothin’.

They got four of these big golf games every year, you know. Four majors, they call ’em. Like the four seasons, but with more golf and less snow, thank the good Lord. I seen it on the TV. They got fancy names, too. One’s called The Masters. Sounds like somethin’ out of one of them old movies. Then there’s the US Open. Don’t know why it’s called “open”, maybe anyone can just walk in and play? Probably not, I guess.
Then they got somethin’ called The Open Championship. Now that just sounds confusing, don’t it? Open, championship… ain’t they all championships? And last, they got the PGA Championship. Don’t ask me what PGA stands for, probably somethin’ important. Probably. These 2023 golf major winners sure knew how to play these games, though.
I heard some folks sayin’ there’s five fellas who won all four of these majors. Five! Can you imagine? Winning all four of them things! They must be richer than a banker. They got names like, uh, Gene somethin’, Ben somethin’, Gary, Jack, and Tiger. Tiger Woods, that’s the one everyone knows. He’s like the king of golf, ain’t he? These are the big golf major winners, the best of the best.
One time, way back when, there was this other fella, Bobby somethin’, who won all four in one year. 1930, they say. But back then, two of them majors was different. Some “amateur” thingamajigs. Don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds less important, don’t it? But hey, winning is winning, I suppose. Even these older golf major winners were something special.
These golf fellas travel all over the place, too. Different places every time, playin’ on different patches of grass. Fancy places, I bet. Places I ain’t never been. But it’s fun to watch, seein’ them hit that ball, tryin’ to get it in that little hole. It’s a simple game, really, but they make it look so hard. These golf major winners make it look a bit easier, though. They are the best for a reason.
These 2023 golf major winners, they worked hard, I’m sure of it. Nothin’ comes easy in this life, ‘cept maybe wrinkles. You gotta practice, gotta put in the time. Just like bakin’ a pie, you can’t just throw some flour and apples together and expect it to be good. You gotta follow the recipe, gotta do it right. These golf major winners definitely follow the recipe, and win.
Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about them golf majors and the winners. It’s been a year, that’s for sure. These young fellas, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka, they done good. Made a name for themselves. And maybe next year, there will be some new names to learn. Or maybe these same fellas will win again. Who knows? That’s the fun of it, ain’t it? Not knowin’ what’s gonna happen next. Yep, that is what makes these golf major winners so exciting to watch, you just never know.
These 2023 golf major winners are really somethin’. I tell ya, watchin’ them play makes me tired. All that walkin’ and swingin’. I’d rather be sittin’ on my porch, sippin’ sweet tea. But hey, to each their own, right? Some folks like golf, some folks like sweet tea. Me? I like both. Especially when there’s a good game on the TV. And those golf major winners sure do put on a good show. They sure do.
