Okay, so I gotta share my whole journey with you guys about rating every match from SummerSlam. I mean, I’m a huge wrestling fan, and SummerSlam is like one of the biggest events of the year, right? So, a while back, I got this wild idea to go through every single SummerSlam event and rate each match. It sounded like a fun project, you know, something to really sink my teeth into.
I kicked things off by making a list of all the SummerSlam events. I mean we’re talking about over three decades of wrestling. Next up, I dug into finding all the matches from each event. I hit up a bunch of wrestling sites and forums. The goal here was to make sure I didn’t miss any matches, especially from those earlier events.
Now, with my list ready, I started watching. And let me tell you, it was a trip down memory lane. Some of these matches I hadn’t seen in years! I made sure to watch each one from start to finish, even the ones I knew were, well, not so great. I jotted down notes as I went, things like the flow of the match, the big moves, the crowd reactions, and of course, the storylines leading up to the match.
Rating Time!

After each match, I’d sit back and really think about what I just watched. I used a star system, kind of like what that Meltzer guy does. I went from one star for those total snoozefests, up to five stars for those matches that just blew me away. It was all about how much I enjoyed the match, the quality of the wrestling, and how well it told a story.

To keep things organized, I made this massive spreadsheet. Every match got its own row, with columns for the event, the wrestlers involved, the match type, and my rating. I even added a column for notes to explain why I gave a match a certain rating.
The Journey
I spent weeks on this. Watching matches, taking notes, giving out ratings. It was a real labor of love. There were days when I’d power through a whole bunch of matches, and other days when I’d just watch one or two. But I kept at it, slowly but surely, until I had watched and rated every single match from every single SummerSlam.
Sharing My Ratings
Once I was done, I thought, “Why not share this with other fans?” So, I cleaned up my spreadsheet, made it all nice and pretty, and posted it online. I shared it on some wrestling forums and social media groups. I figured other fans might find it interesting, and maybe it would spark some cool discussions.
And guess what? It did! People started chiming in, sharing their own opinions, and debating my ratings. Some folks agreed with me, others totally disagreed. But that’s what made it fun, right? It was awesome to see all these different perspectives and to connect with other fans who are just as passionate about wrestling as I am.
It was a ton of work, no doubt, but honestly, I loved every minute of it. It was a cool way to relive some classic wrestling moments, and it was even cooler to share my passion with other fans. It’s definitely something I’ll keep updating as new SummerSlams roll around. And who knows, maybe I’ll tackle another big wrestling project in the future!
