Alright, let’s gab a bit about these golf champions, the fellas who win them big golf games. You know, the kind they show on TV, with all them fancy folks clapping and whatnot.
The Irish Open, that’s a big one. I heard tell of this fella, McIlroy, yeah, that’s the name. He won it back in 2016, they say. Hit a real fancy shot, too, at some place called the K Club. People still talkin’ ‘bout it, like it was yesterday. But darn it, this year, he didn’t win. Some young whippersnapper, Hojgaard, from Denmark, beat him. Real close game it was, too. Folks sayin’ it was by a hair. Imagine that! All them folks watchin’, seventy thousand or somethin’, and this young fella takes the prize. That Amgen fella, Bob somethin’-or-other, he gave the trophy to the boy.
Then there’s this other big game, the British Open. That’s a real old one, been goin’ on forever, I reckon. This year, some band won it! Can you believe it? Not a fella with a stick, but a whole bunch of ‘em with horns and such. Brass Band Treize Etoiles, they call themselves. From Switzerland, way over yonder. Fancy name, ain’t it? And them Flowers fellas, they came in second. Made history, they did. Good for them.
- Speaking of the British Open, there’s this other fella, Schauffele, from America. He won it this year! And he won another big one too, the PGA Championship, back in May. He beat some fellas named DeChambeau and Hovland. Big strong names, them. But Schauffele, he was better, I guess. Kissed some jug trophy, they showed on TV. Shiny it was.
- They got a whole list of these champions, you know. Every year, a new one. They keep track of it all, who won and where. Some fancy website probably has it all written down. And they talk about how you can play where them fellas played. Like you could just walk right up and hit the ball like they do. Ha! Good one.
And get this, they even got silver medals for the amateurs, the ones who ain’t professionals yet. Young fellas, mostly. Twelve of ‘em this year, tryin’ to win that silver. It’s a big deal for them, I hear. Gets their name in the books, you know.
Them Flowers band, they came in second, but they’re real proud of it. Shoutin’ it from the rooftops, they are. Deserve to be proud, I say. Not easy, comin’ in second.
And someone, a historian fella, helpin’ folks keep track of it all. Making sure nobody forgets who won what and when. Important job, I guess. Someone’s gotta do it.
So that’s the gist of it, all them champions and their big games. Lots of names and places, hard to keep track of it all. But it’s somethin’, ain’t it? Folks gettin’ all worked up over hittin’ a little ball into a hole. But hey, makes ‘em happy, I guess. And that’s all that matters, right?
Anyway, that’s what I heard tell about them golf champions. Hope it made some sense. It’s a lot to take in, all them names and places. But that’s how it is with them big games. Always somethin’ happenin’.
