Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into shape, and I remembered watching some boxing videos a while back. This “Andrew Hartley Boxing” thing popped up, and I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m not aiming to be a pro or anything, just wanted to try something new and active.

Getting Started
First thing I did was, I dug out some old workout clothes. I mean, I haven’t seriously exercised in ages, so finding something that still fit was a victory in itself. No fancy gear here, just a ratty old t-shirt and some shorts.
The Warm-up Struggle
I found a basic warm-up routine that Hartley suggested. Lots of jumping jacks, which, let me tell you, are way harder than they look when you’re out of shape. Then some arm circles and leg swings.I moved body from side to side.I felt like a rusty robot trying to move, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
Shadow Boxing – Feeling Silly
Next up, shadow boxing. This is where I felt really awkward. I stood in front of my mirror, throwing punches at the air. Jab, cross, hook… I probably looked ridiculous, but I tried to follow the basic form Hartley showed. It’s surprisingly tiring, just punching nothing!
- My “Routine”(more like flailing):
- Jab, Jab, Cross.
- Try a hook (fail miserably).
- Repeat until I’m out of breath.
Footwork Drills – Tripping Over Myself
Then came the footwork. This was even trickier. I attempted to move around, staying light on my feet like Hartley does. Key word: attempted. I mostly ended up tripping over my own feet. I realized coordination is not my strong suit, but I kept at it, shuffling back and forth in my tiny living room.
Cool Down and Collapse
Finally, the cool down. More stretching, which was actually kind of nice after all that moving around. I collapsed on the floor, completely out of breath but feeling… pretty good? I actually did something. It wasn’t pretty, but I finished the whole routine.
Final Thought
So, that was my first attempt at Andrew Hartley’s boxing workout. I’m no boxer, that’s for *, I sweat like a dog, body is sore. But I’ll try again tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get *,I will not. Who knows? It’s all about having fun and trying something new, I think. Wish my body luck!
