Okay, so I’ve been grinding Apex Legends pretty hard lately, and I started wondering about the ranked system, specifically in different regions. Like, is it really different playing ranked in, say, the “e district” (which I’m assuming means a specific server region, maybe Europe?) compared to my usual NA servers? So I decided to put it to the test.

First, I had to figure out how to even switch my server region. It’s not super obvious in the game, but I found it eventually. I remember that time I was looking to switch and I thought this thing was going to be harder than it seems!
My Experiment Begins
I hopped onto what I think was an “e district” server (it was labeled with a bunch of letters and numbers, so I just picked one with a decent ping). And man, let me tell you, the first few games were…rough.
- Ping Issues: Even though I picked a server with what looked like okay ping, I definitely felt some lag. It wasn’t unplayable, but enough to throw off my aim and movement a bit.
- Different Playstyle?: This is where it gets subjective, but I felt like players were playing differently. It seemed a bit more…aggressive? Or maybe it was just my lag making me feel that way. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
- Communication Breakdown: I don’t speak any other languages fluently, so voice chat was basically useless. Pings were universal, thankfully, but it definitely felt like I was missing out on some coordination.
I played a bunch of games, trying to get a feel for the ranked experience. I went up, I went down, the usual ranked rollercoaster. The lag was a constant factor, making it hard to really judge the skill level fairly.
Conclusion Time
So, is ranked different in the “e district”? Based on my totally unscientific experiment, I’d say… kinda? The lag is the biggest difference, obviously. Whether the playstyle is actually different, or if it just feels different because of the lag and communication barriers, is hard to say for sure.
Honestly, it wasn’t the best experience. Sticking to my own region with a good ping seems like the way to go. I get to play with that good, consistent ping that I have been used to playing with, it is always better that way.
Would I do it again? Maybe, if I was feeling particularly adventurous (or masochistic). But for now, I’m happy to stick to my familiar, low-ping servers. It was fun, and I thought maybe trying to see if I could rank up in a different area would help me somehow, but I don’t think it worked the way that I thought it would. Oh well, now I know!
