Okay, so I’ve been following these two tennis players, Avanesyan and Andreeva, for a while now. I really wanted to see how a match between them would play out, you know? So, I did a little digging and decided to set up a simulation, just for fun.
First, I gathered some basic information about their playing styles. Avanesyan, she’s got this solid baseline game, pretty consistent. Andreeva, on the other hand, is more aggressive, likes to take control of the points. I jotted down a few notes on their strengths and weaknesses, like how they handle different types of shots and their movement on the court.
Then, I started thinking about how I could simulate a match. I’m no programmer, so I kept it simple. I basically imagined a point-by-point scenario. For each point, I rolled some dice, metaphorically speaking. I assigned certain outcomes based on the dice rolls and the players’ profiles.
The Simulation

For example, if the dice landed on a certain number, I said, “Okay, Avanesyan is serving, and based on her consistency, she gets the first serve in.”
-
Then, I rolled again to see how Andreeva would return it. With her aggressive style, a good roll meant she’d go for a powerful return, potentially winning the point or forcing an error.
-
If the roll wasn’t so good, I figured Andreeva might play it safe, giving Avanesyan a chance to set up her game.
I went back and forth like this, point by point, game by game. I even factored in things like double faults, or one player getting tired, just to make it a bit more realistic. It was all pretty rough, but it gave me a general idea.
After “playing” a few sets, I tallied up the scores. It was interesting to see how the simulation played out. It wasn’t perfect and there were a lot of “what ifs”, but it was a fun little experiment. Sometimes, Avanesyan’s consistency would win out. Other times, Andreeva’s aggressive shots would dominate. And there were some close sets.
It was all just for kicks, of course. It’s nothing like watching a real match with all the atmosphere and tension. But it did give me a new way to think about these two players and their potential match-up. It made me even more excited to see them play for real someday.
