Okay, so yesterday I finally decided to try out this Cabernet wine that everyone’s been talking about. I’ve heard so much about it, you know? So I went to that fancy wine shop downtown, the one with all the bottles stacked up to the ceiling. After looking around for like twenty minutes, I grabbed a bottle that looked pretty good. It wasn’t the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive either.

When I got home, I chilled it for a bit because I like my reds a little cool. Then, I poured myself a glass, ready to see what all the fuss was about. I took a sip, and wow, it was… intense. Like, it was full-bodied and had a lot of those dark fruit flavors, which was nice. But then, there was this weird burning sensation. Not like a spicy burn, but more like… I don’t know, too much alcohol or something?
I tried another sip, thinking maybe I just imagined it. Nope, still there. It was kind of ruining the whole experience, to be honest. I ended up just putting the glass down and eating some cheese instead. So much for my fancy wine night.
Some Thoughts
- I wonder if I did something wrong. Maybe I should have let it breathe more?
- Or maybe it was just too warm outside? It was pretty hot yesterday.
- I think the atmospheric conditions must play a part, right?
- Maybe this particular bottle was just not for me. I’ve had other Cabernets before that I liked.
Anyway, that was my experience with this Cabernet. I’m not giving up on it completely, maybe there are better ones out there. It is so popular after all. I’ll probably try a different one next time. Anyone else had this burning sensation with wine before?
