Okay, so yesterday I started playing “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” again. You know, it’s that cute little game where you live on an island with animal friends. I haven’t played it for a long time, but I remembered there’s this art thing in the game.
So I went to this shady fox named Redd who sells art on his boat. He had this painting called the “Calm Painting,” and I was like, “Hmm, is this real or fake?” I didn’t want to get scammed, you know?
I whipped out my phone and started googling. I found some guides and stuff, but they were all about pointing out the flaws in the fake paintings. I didn’t want spoilers! I wanted to figure it out myself, like a true art detective.
Then, I stumbled upon some information about the real-life painting that the “Calm Painting” is based on. It’s some fancy French painting by a guy named Georges Seurat. I looked at pictures of the real one, and then I went back to the game and examined Redd’s painting super closely.
My Discovery
- I noticed the colors in the game’s version were a bit off compared to the real one, but that could just be the game’s art style.
- I compared the little details, like the trees and the people in the background. Everything seemed to match up pretty well.
After a lot of back and forth, I decided to take a chance and buy the painting from Redd. I carried it over to the museum, and Blathers, the owl who runs the place, confirmed it was real! I was so stoked!
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with the “Calm Painting” in “Animal Crossing.” It was fun playing art detective for a bit. It just goes to show you, you don’t need a guide to tell you everything. Sometimes it’s more fun to figure things out on your own! Maybe I will use a checklist next time to avoid buying the same art from Redd again.
