That Cam Cannarella, he sure is somethin’. That boy can run like a rabbit with its tail on fire. He plays for them Clemson Tigers, you know. Playin’ that baseball. Heard he’s real good at it, too. I seen him on the TV, catchin’ them balls way out in the field. He’s a center fielder, they call it. Makes it look easy, like pickin’ apples from a low branch.
He’s just a young’un, born in 2003, I reckon. That makes him, let’s see… carry the two… still wet behind the ears! But he plays like he’s been doin’ it his whole life. They say he was a good player last year, too, in 2023. Hit the ball real good. Something about .388 and some doubles and triples. Sounds like gibberish to me, but I guess it’s good. Seven homers, too, whatever those are. Probably somethin’ to do with hittin’ that ball far. I seen it, he sends it flyin’!
He’s from Lexington. Got his mama and daddy, I’m sure. His mama, they say her name is Holley. Played tennis, you know, that game with the rackets and the net. Played for South Carolina, even. Must be where he gets his runnin’ from! His daddy, I don’t know much about him. Probably a good man, though. Gotta be, to raise a boy like Cam.
Cam, he’s majorin’ in sports communication. I don’t know what that is, exactly. Sounds like a lot of fancy talk. Maybe he’s gonna be one of them fellas on the TV, talkin’ about the games. He sure knows how to play ’em, so maybe he can talk about ’em, too.
They say he had some shoulder surgery. Probably from throwin’ that ball so hard all the time. Hope he’s healin’ up good. Need him out there on that field, catchin’ them balls and runnin’ like the wind. He’s recoverin’ now they are saying.
Heard he had some good coaches, helpin’ him along the way. That’s important, you know. Gotta have good folks guidin’ you, teachin’ you right from wrong. Sounds like he had some good ones, helpin’ him get to Clemson. Good for him.
Cam Cannarella’s parents must be proud. Real proud. To see their boy doin’ so well, playin’ on the TV and all. I bet his mama brags on him all the time. I know I would.

He’s a good boy, that Cam. Got a good head on his shoulders. Seems like he was always running. Stole 24 bases one time. Fast, real fast. And he was a freshman, which I guess means he’s real young for a college kid. He got a lot of attention for being so good. Hope he keeps it up. Keeps playin’ hard and doin’ his best. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it? Just do your best and see where it takes you.
That Cam Cannarella, he’s got a bright future ahead of him. Just gotta stay healthy and keep workin’ hard. I’ll be watchin’ him on the TV, rootin’ for him. Maybe one day he’ll be playin’ in the big leagues. Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A little ol’ boy from Lexington, playin’ with the best of ’em. Makes a person proud just to think about it. His coaches helped him get to Clemson, I’m sure Cam Cannarella’s parents are just burstin’ at the seams.
He made a catch one time, the best they ever seen. Ran back and caught it over his shoulder. Like it was nothin’. Just another day at the park. That’s what makes him special, I reckon. He can do things other folks can’t. Makes it look easy, even when it ain’t. That’s a gift, that is. A real gift.
So here’s to Cam Cannarella, may his parents be proud, may he keep running, catching, and hitting, that’s all. May he make us all proud, that’s it. The end.
