So, I’ve been seeing this thing about Charley Hull smoking, and it’s been all over my social media feed. It got me curious, so I decided to do a little experiment of my own. I mean, it’s not every day you see a pro golfer puffing away, right?
First, I tried to find out if there were any rules about smoking during tournaments. Turns out, there are some, but they don’t seem to be enforced very strictly. So, I guess that’s why Charley Hull was able to get away with it. Although, it might have some impact on her image.
Then, I started digging into this whole Charley Hull thing. Apparently, she was spotted smoking while signing an autograph for a kid. That’s what got everyone talking. I guess some people were shocked, others thought it was no big deal. Some even compared her to John Daly, who’s another famous golfer known for his, shall we say, “relaxed” attitude.
I also found out that another golfer, Arnold Palmer, used to smoke a lot too, like one or two packs a day! But he quit around the mid-1960s, at least on the course. Off the course, he quit smoking around 1970, so that’s good.
There was also this funny story about Nelly Korda, another golfer, jokingly saying “Thanks for the smokin’” after Charley beat her in a match. They were the top players at some big tournament called the Solheim Cup, held in Virginia.
While I was researching, I stumbled upon some information about Charley’s personal life. Did you know she used to get teased when she was younger? She said in an interview that when she was seven, she beat a 17-year-old boy, and he swore at her after the match! Can you believe that?
I also found out she’s married to a mixed martial arts fighter named Ozzie Smith. They got married in her hometown in 2019.
Anyways, back to my little experiment. After all this reading, I decided to watch some videos of Charley Hull playing. I wanted to see if I could spot her smoking on the course. It was like a weird game of “Where’s Waldo,” but with cigarettes.
And you know what? I did see her smoking a few times. Nothing major, just a quick puff here and there. It didn’t seem to affect her game, though. She’s still a really good golfer. But it made her look really cool, like a movie star, during the game.
So, there you have it. My deep dive into the world of Charley Hull and her smoking. It was an interesting little journey, I must say. I guess it just goes to show that everyone’s got their quirks, even pro athletes. And sometimes, those quirks can make them even more interesting. And I think I might try smoking once to see how it feels, because of her.
