Man, what a bummer of a game that was. I’ve been following the Colorado Buffaloes all season, and that Alamo Bowl against BYU was rough. I really thought they had a shot, but it just didn’t go their way. It all started pretty okay, though.
I remember watching the game live, and at the beginning, I felt pretty good. The Buffs’ defense actually managed to stop BYU on their first possession. I was like, “Alright, defense is looking improved, let’s go!” But boy, was I wrong.
- First sign of trouble: Kansas just started running all over them. They got the ball eight times and scored seven of those. It was like watching a slow-motion train wreck. I kept yelling at the TV, “Stop the run! Stop the run!” But they just couldn’t.
- Running game nonexistent: The Buffs tried to run the ball too, but it was like hitting a brick wall. Zero push from the offensive line. I could see the frustration on their faces through the screen.
- Third down disaster: There was this one play that really stuck with me. Third and long, and Kansas just busts out a 14-yard run like it was nothing. That’s when I knew it was going to be a long night.
Honestly it felt like they were fighting a uphill battle the whole time. You know that feeling when you play a video game and the difficulty is set way too high? That’s what this game felt like. I kept hoping they’d turn it around, but it just never happened.
I even saw this post-game message from the team – just one word: “Final.” It was like they were just as stunned as I was. They lost 36-14. It was brutal.
They ended up with an 8-3 record for the season, which isn’t terrible, but this loss just put a damper on everything. I heard they even had some money problems going into the game, which probably didn’t help. Plus, getting into the Big 12 title game is now a super complicated long shot. They need other teams to lose, and it’s just a whole mess.
I’m still a Buffs fan, but this one stings. It’s one of those games you try to forget, but it keeps replaying in your head. Hopefully, they can bounce back next season. We’ll see.
