Okay, so I’ve been playing Marvel Contest of Champions for a while now, and I’ve always been kinda confused about which champions are actually good. I mean, there are so many! So, I finally decided to buckle down and figure out this whole “tier list” thing. Here’s how my journey went – it wasn’t pretty, but I got there!

The Initial Research (and Confusion)
First, I started searching for tier lists online. I figured, “Hey, someone else must have done the hard work, right?” Wrong. There are tons of these lists, and guess what? They all disagree! One list would have a champion as “God Tier,” and another would have them as “Meh.” It was a total mess.
I spent like, two hours just staring at different lists, my head spinning. It felt like everyone had a different opinion, and honestly, I was more confused than when I started.
Digging into the Details
After the initial frustration, I decided I needed to get smarter about this. I started looking at why people ranked champions the way they did. I found some forums and communities, and started reading through player discussions.
That’s when things started to click a little. I learned that it’s not just about raw power. Things like immunities, special abilities, and synergies with other champions matter a lot. Some champs are amazing in certain game modes (like Alliance War) but not so great in others.
Building My Own (Very Messy) Spreadsheet
Feeling a bit more confident, I decided to make my own tier list. I grabbed a spreadsheet and started listing all the champions I had. Then, I started going through each one, thinking about how they performed for me.
- Column 1: Champion Name (obviously)
- Column 2: My Star Rating (how many stars I had them at)
- Column 3: My Personal Tier (God, Great, Okay, Needs Work)
- Column 4:Not very useful
- Column 5: Notes (why I put them in that tier)
It was slow going. I’d play a few quests with a champion, then go back to my spreadsheet and jot down my thoughts. I realized that my opinions were changing as I got better at using certain champions, or as I ranked them up. My spreadsheet was a total mess of colors and notes, but it was my mess.
The Never-Ending Revision
Here’s the thing about tier lists: they’re never really “done.” New champions get released, old ones get buffed or nerfed, and your own skills and preferences change. So, my spreadsheet is still a work in progress.
I’ve learned that the best tier list is the one that works for you. It’s about understanding how you like to play, and which champions fit your style. Don’t just blindly follow some list you found online – do the work, experiment, and figure out what works best for your roster.

And most importantly, have fun! It’s a game, after all. If you’re stressing out too much about tier lists, you’re doing it wrong. Good luck, and may your pulls be ever in your favor!
