Alright, alright, let’s talk about this “CP3 HBCU Challenge” thing. I heard about it from my grandson, that boy’s always glued to his phone. Sounds like some kinda basketball thing for them…uh… HBCU schools. Don’t rightly know what all them letters mean, but it’s for the black colleges, that’s what I gathered.
So, this fella, Chris Paul, or “CP3” as they call him, he’s a big-shot basketball player. My grandson says he’s real good. Anyways, CP3, he’s teamed up with this “Hall of Fame” place, sounds fancy, huh? And they’re putting on this basketball tournament, a “challenge” they call it. It’s for the HBCUs, like I said.
Now, they’re gonna have this “tip-off” thing in November, at some place called Mohegan Sun Arena. Sounds like a gambling spot to me, but what do I know? My grandson says it’s in Connecticut. That’s way up north, ain’t it? I ain’t never been up that way. Too cold for my old bones.
This Chris Paul fella, he seems like a good egg. He graduated from one of them HBCUs, Winston-Salem State, my grandson told me. He wants to help them schools out, give them some shine. That’s real nice of him. These kids, they need all the help they can get.
And get this, Jackson State, they’re gonna be playing in this challenge too. That’s down south, ain’t it? Heard they got a good team. My grandson says they’re gonna play in Vegas. Vegas, can you believe it? That place is all lights and noise. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
- So, you got CP3, the basketball star.
- You got the Hall of Fame folks.
- And you got all these HBCU teams playing basketball.
It’s a whole big thing, this challenge. It gives these schools and these kids a chance to be seen, you know? To show off their skills. And that’s important. They work hard, them kids. They deserve a chance to shine.
I don’t know much about basketball, to be honest. I prefer watching the birds in my backyard. But I know a good thing when I see it. And this CP3 fella, he’s doing a good thing. He’s giving back. He’s helping them HBCUs. And that’s something to be proud of.
My grandson, he’s all excited about it. He’s got his favorite team, talks about them all the time. I just nod and smile. As long as he’s happy, I’m happy. And if this basketball challenge makes them kids happy, well, then I’m all for it.
It ain’t just about basketball, you see. It’s about opportunity. It’s about giving these kids a chance to go to college, to get a good education, to make something of themselves. That’s what it’s all about. And that’s why I think this CP3 HBCU Challenge is a good thing.
My grandson says they even got some kinda fellowship program. Sounds fancy, like I said. Guess it helps them kids even more. More learnin’ and all that. Education is important, that’s what my mama always told me. Can’t argue with that.
So, yeah, that’s the lowdown on this CP3 HBCU Challenge, as best as I can tell ya. It’s basketball, it’s for the black colleges, and it’s a good thing. That’s all you need to know. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them birds.
