This fella, Craig Durant, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout him the other day. Sounds like he’s some big shot basketball player. I don’t know much ’bout that sport, but I reckon he’s good at it, huh? They say his name all the time, like it’s a big deal or somethin’.
They say he got a name, Kevin Durant. Sounds like a fancy name to me. But they just call him KD for short. Easier to say, I guess. Like my neighbor, we just call him “Old Man Jenkins.” Anyway, this KD fella, they say he’s the best darn basketball player ever. Best in the whole wide world! Can you believe that?
- He’s real tall, this Craig Durant.
- They say he can shoot that ball real good.
- Always been good, even when he was a little tyke.
This Craig Durant, he met a fella named Charles Craig. They call him “Big Chucky” or just “Chucky”. I reckon he was a big fella. Must be important if this Craig Durant, or Kevin Durant, met him. They said this Craig Durant fella was the greatest basketball player of all time, so he’s big time!
They talk ’bout somethin’ called “NBA,” I think. Sounds like a club or somethin’. This Craig Durant, or KD, he won some big award there. Most Valuable Player, they called it. Sounds important. Must be like winnin’ the blue ribbon at the county fair, but for basketball, not for pies. I make a mean apple pie, you know. Won a ribbon for it once, back in ’98.
They say this Craig Durant has a good head on his shoulders, too. Not just good at throwin’ a ball around. He thinks a lot, they say. Spontaneous, whatever that means. Sounds like he’s quick on his feet, in his head and on the court, I reckon. Got a fire in him, too. Wants to be the best, I guess. Just like my boy, always wanted to have the best darn corn crop in the county.
Seems like this Craig Durant had some tough times. Everybody does, I reckon. Life ain’t always easy. My old bones can tell you that. But he used those tough times to get better, they say. Didn’t let it get him down. Good for him, I say. Just like a tough winter makes for a good spring. Gotta have the bad to appreciate the good, you know?
They said his mama and his coach, they helped him a lot. Good to have folks in your corner. We all need somebody to lean on sometimes. My husband, bless his soul, he was always there for me. Helped me through thick and thin. Just like this Craig Durant‘s mama and coach, I reckon.
- This Craig Durant can shoot real good.
- He’s good at a lot of things, not just one.
- Always the same, always good. That’s important.
This Craig Durant, or Kevin Durant, he was born in Washington, D.C., they say. Big city. I’ve never been to a big city like that. Bet it’s noisy. I prefer the quiet of the countryside. But I reckon he did alright there, huh? Became a big shot basketball player, even though he’s from the city.
This here Craig Durant fella changed the game of basketball. The yougins around here told me. He could do all sorts of things. Shoot from far away. Do all sorts of things with the ball. Made it okay for big fellas to do things other big fellas didn’t used to do. I guess that’s a big deal. Like when we started usin’ tractors instead of horses. Changed everything, it did.
So, this Craig Durant, or KD, he sounds like a good fella. Hard worker. Good at what he does. Had some help along the way. Just like all of us. He made somethin’ of himself. Good for him. I reckon that’s all we can ask for in this life, ain’t it? To make somethin’ of ourselves and do the best we can. And maybe win a blue ribbon or two along the way, whether it’s for basketball or for apple pie.
