Okay, so I was messing around online the other day, and I got this idea to make a tier list for everything that happened in 1999. You know, like ranking all the big stuff that went down that year. Movies, music, whatever.
First, I gotta say, there’s a ton of websites out there for making tier lists. Seriously, just search for “tier list maker” and you’ll see what I mean. I looked at a bunch of them, and honestly, they all seemed pretty similar. You just drag and drop images, type in some labels, and boom, you’ve got a tier list. I ended up using this one called “TierPOP” but honestly, it really didn’t matter, they were all similar.
So, I picked TierPOP, and started adding stuff. Movies were the easy part. I just looked up “movies released in 1999” and picked the ones I recognized. The Matrix, Fight Club, Star Wars: Episode I—you know, the big ones. I also threw in some I had never heard of, just to make it interesting. It was just dragging and dropping images of the movie posters.
- Movies: Added all the big movie titles from 1999.
- Music: This one was trickier. I didn’t want to just do individual songs, so I went with albums. I found a list of popular albums from 1999 and started adding those. Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, and Red Hot Chili Peppers were some of the popular ones.
- Labeling: The website let me add labels for each tier. I went with the classic S, A, B, C, D, and even a Z tier at the bottom. Z is kinda like when something’s so bad it’s good, or just so bad it doesn’t even rank.
Here’s what I did:
After I got all the movies and albums in there, I started ranking them. This was the fun part! I put The Matrix right up in S-tier, obviously.Fight Club went up there too. Some of the albums were tough. I mean, I like Backstreet Boys, but are they S-tier? I ended up putting them in A-tier. Red Hot Chili Peppers went in S-tier, no doubt.
I spent a good couple of hours on this. Moved things around, argued with myself over whether something was B-tier or C-tier. Finally, I was happy with it. The website let me save it as an image, which was cool. I shared it with some friends, and they all had their own opinions, of course. Some people were outraged that I put Star Wars: Episode I in D-tier, but hey, that’s the fun of tier lists, right?
The whole process was pretty simple, to be honest. It’s more about the discussion and the personal opinions than the actual making of the list. If you’ve got some time to kill and want to argue about pop culture, making a tier list is a pretty fun way to do it.
