Well now, let me tell you ’bout this young fella, Dajuan Harris Jr., and what he’s been doin’ on them basketball courts. Born back on December 11, 2000, this boy’s from Columbia, Missouri, and I tell ya, he’s been makin’ a name for himself, big time. Now, he ain’t just your regular boy playin’ ball. No sir, he’s one of them Jayhawks out there at the University of Kansas. He started playin’ with them back in 2020, and by 2022, he was the starting point guard when they won the national championship. That’s right, won it all!
You know, before he got to Kansas, Dajuan went to Rock Bridge High School. He weren’t just playin’ around there neither, no ma’am. He helped lead his high school team to two straight state championships in Missouri. He was a force to be reckoned with, I reckon! So, when it came time for college ball, it didn’t take long for folks to see he had what it takes to play with the best of ‘em.
When Dajuan first got to Kansas, they had him redshirtin’ that first year, which means he wasn’t playin’ in the games but was still gettin’ in the groove, workin’ on his skills. Come 2021, though, that boy was ready. He started showin’ up big time, puttin’ up assists and gettin’ the team goin’. Now, by the time the 2021–22 season rolled around, he wasn’t just another player on the team—nope, he was the main man, the starting point guard. And don’t get me started on how good he was defensively. This boy’s quick on his feet, just like a rabbit dodgin’ a fox. He got himself named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team, and let me tell ya, he earned that title! Ain’t nobody gettin’ past him without a fight!
But that ain’t all, no sir! In 2023, they gave him the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year award, and you don’t get that just by standin’ around. He’s been showin’ up and showin’ out, startin’ every game since 2021, and let me tell you, the Jayhawks wouldn’t be the same without him. He’s one of them players that makes the whole team better. You can see it in how the game flows when he’s out there, runnin’ things from the point guard position. He knows when to pass, when to shoot, and when to shut the other team down.
Dajuan’s played so many games for them Jayhawks, and folks in Kansas sure do love him. Matter of fact, he’s one of the top earners from them NIL deals (Name, Image, and Likeness, for them that don’t know) in college basketball. Reports say he’s makin’ ’round $88,000 a year from them deals! That’s a mighty fine sum for a young man who’s just gettin’ started.
It’s a bit sad though, I suppose, ’cause 2024 is gonna be his last year playin’ for Kansas. That boy’s givin’ it all he’s got in his final season. But don’t you worry none—he’s made his mark in a big way. He’ll go down as one of the greats in Kansas history, that’s for sure. This season, he’s still out there playin’ strong, although he ain’t gettin’ as many minutes as before. But whether he’s on the court for 27 minutes or 47 minutes, you best believe he’s gonna make ’em count. And just recently, he even led his team to a win over UNC Wilmington, puttin’ up 16 points. That’s the kind of player he is, always ready to step up when it’s needed.
Now, Dajuan might be a bit quiet off the court, but don’t let that fool ya. He’s a lion when he steps on that hardwood floor. His story’s just gettin’ started, and who knows? Maybe he’ll make a name for himself in the pros someday. But for now, he’s all about them Jayhawks, and that’s where he’s gonna finish his college days out, makin’ the most of every last game.
In short: If you ain’t been watchin’ this Dajuan Harris boy, you might want to start. He’s done a lot in a short time, and I got a feelin’ he’s gonna do even more before his time’s up at Kansas. So, keep an eye on him, and remember that name—Dajuan Harris Jr. He’s one of the best to ever do it for the Jayhawks.
