Well, hey there! Let me tell ya somethin’ about them Detroit Tigers announcers. Folks been talkin’ ‘bout ‘em, you know? Like, who’s gonna be yellin’ at the TV when them boys are hittin’ the balls and runnin’ around.
So, they got this new fella, Jason Benetti. Yep, Jason Benetti. He’s the main guy now, the one they call the “play-by-play announcer” on the TV. Sounds fancy, don’t it? He’s supposed to be on TV for most of the games, like, a whole bunch of ‘em. They say 127 games, at least. That’s a lot of games, ain’t it? I reckon he’s gotta have a strong voice for all that yellin’.
But sometimes, you know, this fella Benetti, he’s gotta go do other stuff, “national broadcast obligations” they call it. Sounds important. So, when he’s gone, somebody else gotta step in and do the yellin’. They ain’t said who yet, but I bet they got someone lined up. They always do.
- They gotta make sure someone’s always there to tell us what’s happenin’ on the field, right?
- Can’t have the TV just showin’ the game without no one talkin’. That wouldn’t be no fun.
Now, this Benetti fella, he ain’t doin’ it alone. He’s got this other guy, Craig Monroe, with him. They seem to get along alright. They talk about the game together, you know, like a couple of fellas watchin’ from the stands, only they got microphones and everybody can hear ‘em. I heard some folks sayin’ they like listenin’ to them two.
Speaking of announcers, let me tell ya ‘bout a fella named Ernie Harwell. He was the Tigers announcer for a long, long time. A real long time. They say 55 seasons! Can you believe that? 55 years of yelin’ about baseball! That’s like, forever. He was a good one, they say. Folks loved him. He passed away a while back, but people still talk about him. He was a legend, they say. Guess he musta been pretty darn good at the yellin’ thing.
So, yeah, that’s the lowdown on them Detroit Tigers announcers. They got this new fella, Benetti, and that other fella, Monroe. And they had that fella Harwell before. It’s important to have good announcers, you know? Makes the game more fun to watch. Or listen to, if you’re listenin’ on the radio. They got radio announcers too, but I don’t know much about them. I mostly watch on the TV, when I can get the darn thing to work right. Technology these days, it’s somethin’ else, I tell ya.
Anyhow, that’s all I got to say about them announcers. They talk, we listen. They yell, we cheer. That’s how it works. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go see if them Tigers are playin’ today. Maybe I’ll hear that Benetti fella yellin’ on the TV later.
Oh, and one more thing. I heard they fixed up the TV crew, too. Made it all official for the new season. That’s good, I guess. Means they’re ready to go. Ready to yell and talk and tell us all about the baseball games. And that’s all that matters, right? The baseball.
So that’s the story, or at least what I know about it. It ain’t always easy keepin’ up with all this stuff, you know? But I try. I do my best to know what’s goin’ on with them Tigers. They’re our team, after all. And I like listenin’ to the fellas who tell us all about ‘em.
