Okay, so today I decided to do a little comparison between Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith. You know, just for fun, see how they stack up against each other, since they’re both super talented wide receivers.

First, I pulled up their stats from the last season. I mainly focused on things like receiving yards, touchdowns, and receptions per game. Just getting the raw numbers down was the first step, you know?
Digging into the Numbers
- I created a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just columns for each player and the stats I wanted to compare.
- Then I started plugging in the data. I went game by game, making sure I didn’t miss anything. It was a little tedious, but hey, gotta be thorough, right?
After getting all the basic stats, I wanted to go a bit deeper. So, I started looking at things like yards per reception and targets. This helps paint a better picture of how they’re used in their respective offenses, not just the final results.
Beyond the Box Score
Of course, stats don’t tell the whole story. So, I also spent some time watching game highlights. I wanted to see their playing styles with my own eyes. How do they run their routes? How do they handle contested catches? That kind of stuff.
- Watching Waddle, you see that explosive speed and how he can just blow past defenders.
- With Smith, it’s more about that smooth route running and incredible hands. He just makes it look so easy.
Finally, I jotted down some notes on my overall impressions. It’s not just about who’s “better,” but more about understanding their strengths and weaknesses. Both are amazing players, just in different ways.
It was a fun little project! Gave me a better appreciation for both of these guys and what they bring to the table. Might do another one of these comparisons soon, maybe with different players next time. It is really fun to do it!
