Alright, let’s talk about this Devonte Davis fella and his next fight. Folks keep askin’ me, “Who’s he fightin’ next?” Well, hold your horses, I’m gettin’ to it.
Seems like this young man, they call him “Tank,” yeah, that’s the one. He’s gonna be fightin’ again soon. They say it’s gonna be in March, somethin’ about the first of March. That’s what the TV folks were jabberin’ about the other day.
Now, who’s he fightin’? Some fella named Lamont Roach. Lamont Roach Jr., they say. Sounds fancy, huh? Don’t know much about him, but I reckon he must be tough if they’re puttin’ him up against Tank.
- Fight Date: March 1st, they say. Mark your calendars, if you got one.
- Place: Brooklyn, New York. Big city, lots of noise. They’re fightin’ in some place called Barclays Center. Sounds like a big deal.
- What’s on the line?: Tank’s got this belt, a WBA lightweight somethin’-or-other. Sounds important. He’s gonna be defendin’ it, meanin’ he’s gotta win to keep it.
This Tank fella, he’s pretty good, they tell me. Knocks folks out, bam! Just like that. Got a record like 30 wins and not a single loss. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Twenty-eight of them wins, he knocked ’em out cold. Tough cookie, this Tank.
But this Roach fella, he ain’t no slouch neither. Got a record of 25 wins, one loss, and one tie. And he’s got a belt too, somethin’ about super-featherweight. Sounds lighter than Tank’s, but still a champ. This fight, it’s gonna be a good one, I tell ya.
Now, I heard somethin’ on the radio, Tank, he’s sayin’ somethin’ about retirin’ after this fight. Can you believe it? Young fella like him, talkin’ ’bout hangin’ up his gloves. Said he’s tired of this boxin’ stuff. Well, I reckon fightin’ takes a toll on ya. All that punchin’ and gettin’ punched, it ain’t easy.
But before he goes off to do whatever it is retired boxers do, he’s gotta take care of this Roach fella. And that ain’t gonna be a walk in the park, no sirree. Roach, he’s gonna be comin’ to win, you can bet your bottom dollar on that. He ain’t gonna just roll over and let Tank have it easy.
So, what’s gonna happen? Well, I ain’t no fortune teller, but I got a feelin’ it’s gonna be a brawl. Two tough guys, goin’ at it, hammer and tongs. It might go the distance, all them rounds, or it might end early with a knockout. Who knows? That’s why we watch, ain’t it? To see what happens.
One thing’s for sure, though, folks are gonna be watchin’. This Tank fella, he draws a crowd. They wanna see him fight. And this Roach fella, he’s got somethin’ to prove. He wants to show the world he can beat the best. So, it’s gonna be excitin’, that’s for darn sure.
They’re gonna be showin’ it on TV, too. Somethin’ about Prime Video, whatever that is. Sounds fancy. You gotta pay to watch it, though, they call it pay-per-view. Well, I reckon it’s worth it if it’s a good fight. And I got a hunch this one’s gonna be a barn burner.
Now, they say Tank’s worth a whole heap of money, like 10 million dollars! That’s a lot of scratch, even for a city fella. But he’s got some troubles too, they say. Somethin’ about gettin’ into trouble with the law. Well, that’s his business, ain’t it? I’m just here to talk about the fightin’.
So, to sum it all up: Tank Davis versus Lamont Roach Jr., March 1st, Brooklyn, New York. WBA lightweight title on the line. Gonna be a good one, folks. Don’t miss it.
And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
