Today I want to share a little story about Ed Browning. You might not know the name, but if you follow college football, you’ve probably heard of his son, Jake Browning. Yeah, that Jake Browning, the quarterback.

So, I got curious about Jake’s dad, Ed, and started digging around. Turns out, Ed was a football player himself, back in the late 80s and early 90s. I stumbled upon some old articles and stats – he was a quarterback, just like Jake, and he was pretty good, I must say. I played college football from 1987 to 1991. He ended the ’91 season as the school’s leader in passing with 171, apparently.
As I read more about Ed, I found videos, mostly about his family life. It’s pretty clear that he’s a family man. And from what I gathered, Jake really looks up to him. I even saw an interview where Jake was talking about his dad, and he just lit up. “He made me the man I am now,” he said. You could just feel the respect and admiration.
But the story gets even more interesting. I learned that besides being a football player and a dad, Ed’s also a skilled machinist. I read somewhere that he’s really good at turning ideas into actual, physical things. Pretty cool, right?
- Digging deeper, I found some stuff about a guy named Jonathan Edward “Ed” Browning who was involved with some military rifle testing back in 1929. Not sure if it’s the same Ed, but it’s an interesting coincidence, isn’t it?
So, after spending hours going down this rabbit hole, what did I learn? Well, Ed Browning is more than just Jake’s dad. He’s a former football player, a family man, a skilled machinist, and maybe even a part of some military history. It’s funny how one little question can lead you to so many interesting stories. I just wanted to know more about Jake Browning’s dad, and I ended up discovering this whole other side of him. Goes to show, everyone’s got a story, you just gotta dig a little to find it.
