Alright, let’s talk about this golf shamble rules thing, you know, the way us regular folks play it, none of that fancy talk.
So, first off, you got your team, a bunch of fellas or gals, right? Everybody hits their first ball off the tee, just like normal golf. But here’s the kicker, you pick the best one. Yep, the prettiest, longest, straightest one, that’s the one you use.
Now, you might be thinkin’, “Well, that’s easy!” But hold your horses! After you pick that good ball, everybody plays their own ball from there. That’s right, you ain’t just hittin’ the same ball all the way. Everybody’s gotta pull their weight.
Scorin’, that’s another thing. Most times, you add up the best two scores on each hole. So, if you got four folks playin’, you pick the two lowest scores and add ’em together. That’s your team score for that hole.
- Everybody hits a tee shot.
- Pick the best tee shot.
- Everybody plays their own ball from the best tee shot spot.
- Usually, take the best two scores for each hole.
Now, some folks might do it a little different. Maybe they take the best three scores, or maybe they let you move your ball a little bit if it’s in a bad spot, you know, like a divot or somethin’. But mostly, it’s like I told ya.
And let me tell ya, this shamble game is fun! It takes some pressure off, ’cause you always got that good tee shot to start with. But you still gotta play your own ball, so it ain’t no walk in the park. You still gotta hit good shots, putt decent, you know the drill.
Thinkin’ ’bout strategy? Well, it ain’t rocket science. You want folks who can hit it long, for sure. That good tee shot is important. But you also need some folks who can putt good, ’cause those short shots count just as much. And somebody who can stay outta trouble, that’s always a plus.
And don’t forget, you gotta work as a team. Talk to each other, decide which shot is best, encourage each other. It ain’t all about you, it’s about the whole team doin’ good.
This shamble thing, it’s a good way to play golf with your buddies, or your family, or even just some folks you met at the course. It’s less stressful than regular golf, you know, where every shot counts against you. And if you have a bad hole, well, you still got your teammates to help you out.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a fun, relaxed way to play golf, give the shamble a try. It ain’t complicated, and it’s a good way to spend a day on the course. And like I said, pick good players for your team ,some long hitters, some good putters, and you’ll do alright.
Remember, the most important thing is to have fun. Don’t get too worked up about the rules or your score. Just get out there and enjoy the fresh air and the company. That’s what golf is all about, ain’t it?
Now, different groups might do it a little different. Sometimes they let you place your ball within a club length of the chosen tee shot. Some groups might say you have to play the ball as it lies after the tee shot. It all just depends on who you’re playing with and what they decide on before you start. So make sure you’re clear on the rules before you tee off, that’s important.
And that’s about all there is to it. It ain’t hard, just hit the ball, pick the best one, and then everybody play their own. You’ll figure it out. Now go on and have some fun!
One last thing, don’t be one of those slow players, you know the kind. Keep up with the group in front of you, and don’t spend forever looking for a lost ball. Nobody likes a slow player.
Okay, I’m done talkin’ now. Go play some golf!
