So, they dropped another Egg Hunt in MLB The Show 24. Saw it pop up in Diamond Dynasty when I logged in the other day. You kinda know the drill with these things, another set of tasks to tick off. Part of me thinks, “Great, more grinding,” but hey, it’s something different to do besides the usual ranked season slog.

Getting Started with the Hunt
First thing I did was jump into the programs menu, gotta see what they want you to do this time. Bunch of eggs, each with a little hint attached. Some looked pretty straightforward, others were kinda vague. You know how they like to be clever with the wording sometimes. I figured I’d just start knocking out the easy-looking ones first.
I think the first one I went for involved playing a Conquest game. Simple enough. Fired up a map, played a few turns, simulated some games. Didn’t even have to win the whole map, just needed to complete a game I think. Boom, first egg collected. Felt okay, like maybe this wouldn’t be too bad.
Digging into the Objectives
Then I started looking at the other hints. There was stuff like:
- Get a hit with a specific player series type.
- Play a Battle Royale game.
- Win a Play vs CPU game on a certain difficulty.
- Do something in Moments.
The Battle Royale one was quick. Just drafted a team, played one game, got smashed like usual, but got the egg. Easy peasy. The Play vs CPU one wasn’t bad either, just picked a decent team and played nine innings against the computer while half-watching something else.
But some hints took a bit more effort. There was one, I think it involved getting extra-base hits. Sounds simple, right? Took me ages. Played a couple of games, hitting singles all over the place. Just couldn’t stretch a double or get one over the fence when I needed it for the objective. Got pretty frustrating, honestly. You’re just trying to force it instead of playing naturally. Had to switch modes, went into a Conquest game on rookie just to blast one and get it over with.
The Tricky Bits and Pieces
There always seems to be one or two hints that are just weirdly specific or hidden in a mode you don’t play much. I remember one required doing something specific in a Showdown. Now, I don’t mind Showdown, but sometimes you just fail right at the boss, you know? Had to focus a bit more for that one. Managed to get it done, but it wasn’t just a quick jump in, jump out thing.
Another one involved Mini Seasons, I think. Had to win a game there. Not hard, but just another mode I had to specifically load into and play just for this egg hunt. It breaks up the monotony, I guess, but sometimes you just want to stick to what you were doing.
Seeing the eggs fill up in the program screen is kinda satisfying, though. You get little rewards along the way – some packs, a bit of XP, maybe some stubs. Nothing game-changing usually, but it keeps you going. Makes the grind feel a little less pointless.

Wrapping it Up
Getting the last couple of eggs always feels like the final push. You’ve done most of them, just gotta figure out the last tricky hint or finish that slightly longer objective. By that point, I was kinda invested, just wanted to see it through.
Finally got the last one. Think it was tied to an online mode, maybe Events? Can’t quite recall. But the program screen showed 100%, and the big reward popped up. Usually it’s a player card. Checked him out briefly. Looks decent, might make the squad, might not. Haven’t really given him a proper tryout yet.
Was it worth it? Eh, hard to say. It killed some time. Gave me a reason to explore different game modes, which is probably the point. Some parts were annoying, some were easy. The reward is alright. It wasn’t the most exciting event ever, but it wasn’t the worst grind either. Just another thing to do in The Show. Probably do it again next time they have one, just to collect the stuff. Keeps things ticking over.
